I’ve been looking around recently for a dual boot computer and it seems like everything is pretty expensive, so far the only good sites I’ve found have been Penguin Computing and Xi Computer Corp.
I’m looking for a top of the line system, for gaming, programming, video, multimedia, etc., basically a workstation with a good gaming profile.
Can anyone point me out to a nice reliable cheap manufacturer?
You want to buy a computer with Linux already installed in a dual boot with Windows? I didn’t know you could do that.
Much cheaper would be to buy the gaming computer you want for Windows, and then set up Linux yourself (for free!) If you don’t want to do that, contact your local university computer department’s student club and ask them when their next Install Fest is. Most schools I know of seem to have a Fest once a year, sometimes more often.
Build your own PC. It’s very easy, and you save money.
I want to buy a comp with Linux pre-installed because I know there can be compatability issues and I also know of at least 2 places that sell linux boxes with dual boot setups. Building my own PC never seems to work out, the last time I tried I ended up with a faulty part, I wasn’t able to diagnose the problem and it ended up in failure. I’d much rather just have it built, besides, it usually ends up around the same price.
I’m just wondering if theres some popular linux builder that I’m not aware of.
