Finding a 'Fruit Wholesaler'

I’ve started making non-grape fruit wines. Several sources recommend buying the large quantities of fruit needed from ‘fruit wholesalers.’

How do I find one that’ll sell to some schmoe? Don’t laugh, but I looked in the phone book and couldn’t find a fruit wholesaler. The guy at the winemaking supply store didn’t have any ideas, either.

How do you find one?

Look for Distribution Centers for major produce companies, like Del Monte Fresh Produce over where I-95S and I-57 split off. 9880 S. Dorchester Ave, to be precise. They may make direct sales to you.

Or the International Produce Market in the Pilsen neighborhood, 2501 S. Wolcott Ave. It should be open by now.
