I have been searching for a replacement agitator brush for a Hoover vacuum cleaner. The bristles on the one we have are worn off from use and it will no longer pick up anything, even on the lowest floor setting.
According to the manual for this vacuum, the replacement part number is 48144004. The vacuum itself is Hoover U-6311. I have been able to find a few places online that list the part in question, but none have any in stock. I can’t even find the part listed on Hoover’s website.
This model was made by them before they were bought out by the Chinese (or whoever it was that bought them out in the past few years).
Anyway…i am looking for a source for this replacement part. If anyone can find somewhere that actually has them in stock, i would be very grateful!
If your vacuum is actually the U6311-930, it appears that the proper brush roll is the 48414013 (per this page), and is available herefor $20 with free shipping.
Best bet is probably to call them (their number is somewhat hidden at the top of the page, uder the orange “Canada” button.)
Failing that, there’s no substitute for going to an actual vacuum cleaner repair shop. These are getting scarce, but they’re still out there. If you’re near San Francisco, I can heartily recommend one that I’ve been dealing with for several years. The place looks like an absolute junk pit, but the guy knows vacuums inside and out.
gotpasswords, thanks for the “find”… After your message I looked at the actual vacuum and confirmed that you had the correct full model number (the other had been given to me over the phone). That seemed to be exactly what I wanted. unfortunately, when I called the 2nd link you found, they also do not have it, saying as others have said, that it was discontinued in May 2008. Thanks for trying…
Anyone with a recommendation for a vacuum repair shop recommendation for the Cleveland OH area?
Here’s some A-Graded appliance/vacuum repair places from Angie’s List. If you’re not familiar with Angie’s List, it’s a user-created list of recommendations (or warnings) of local shops and services. I generally trust the reviews, as you have to be a paying member to post one.
If none of these places can help, PM me…there are more listed. These ones just have the most reports.
