Fired over manager's unethical actions?

Totally seconded.

You can be fired for any reason as long as it’s not illegal, such as race, religion or sex and so on.

You got fried because you’re manager was a jerk. Last time I looked being a jerk was not against the law.

You took the fall but nothing illegal was done.

Wait, you’re upset over losing a job delivering pizzas, and you have a lawyer you can just call whenever you want? Is he on retainer?

I couldn’t just “call my lawyer” when I was making six figures. I guess that makes me lucky.

Cool. Never knew how that worked – never had unemployment paid out (no diss on those who have – that’s what it’s there for, IMO).

You guys are right about letting it go – my perspective is that since the OP is going to HAVE to let it go, at least I find it kind of amusing to spend a few minutes thinking of some good stuff to get back on. My sister’s a licensed therapist – when she got her M.S., she ran across some data (perhaps outdated) that seemed to her pretty convincing that people who carry grudges end up in a pretty rough spot psychologically and perhaps physiologically. Don’t know the details, and it’s probably pretty old data, but makes sense from at least my own example. Not a way to live your life, unless you genuinely think it’s kind of amusing, like playing Parcheesi (kidding – that’s a bad game, although kind of fun IIRC).

Of course, it is kind of a poison for the brain. Witness, I spent a solid two years spending almost every waking hour thinking of unspeakable things to do to my ex-wife. It was a secular miracle when I grew out of it.

But still, it can be fun provided you just take it for an idle amusement, and don’t do anything illegal, OR, what’s even more important, make sure the place isn’t mobbed up. Not a slur of any kind – just from personal experience there are some rough customers who own restaurants, and I’ve heard stories. And before some nonny snarkpitter says I’m a liar – well, I can’t do anything about that, but it doesn’t take but a bit of common sense to not screw with people who know how to hit back.

I don’t know. I mean, I have a couple of friends and a cousin who are lawyers. I would consider them “my lawyers” if I needed to make such a statement. I don’t think you have to keep your lawyer on retainer just to be able to ask questions once in a while.

That’s what I’m saying – a friend/family friend/family friend might well give some ex parte ex judicio advice. In my limited experience (I’ve never needed a lawyer), you can’t just call up a lawyer without shelling out.

This. I would file a formal complaint against them. And as someone else mentioned, if your local TV station has a Consumer Advocate or the like, call them up. Marvin Zindler, for years, in Houston made restaurant owners cringe if he came calling.

I think it’s natural to be worked up over it. The guy was a total a-hole all around and treated you like dog shit for something that was his fault, and having no recourse makes it worse. I’d be really pissed if it happened to me, no matter what the job was. But if it’s making you lash out at loved ones, you should leave the room/house for a while till you calm down. It wasn’t their fault, and you’re just dumping his assholiness on them.

And by all means call the health department. If anyone has it coming, he does.

+1. Local TV stations LOVE to say that they let everyone know about something bad. Call channel [number] and tell about the raw wings thing. They’ll make sure the manager gets fired or the place gets shut down.

I use to itnern for him  His wife, ironically enough, is a destrict court judge. Imagine how that works out in their household. lol I like to think of myself as Jesse Pinkman with Saul Goodman at my side. Hahaha!

This is guy is REALLY, good at what he does. His firm is one of the biggest and most prestigious in the state. Besides, I thought everyone has at least one lawyer, to bail them out of a DUI, B&E, A&B, CM, etc…?

Let it go, move on, live a better life and think back on this guy as the guy doomed to work as a Pizza place manager for his entire life while being a grade A assclown. And probably die young for his trouble.

I see that you have 2 issues not related.

Your former boss is a jerk. Get over it.

He is putting his customers at risk and you know about it. How will you feel if someone gets sick. Call the health department.
