Wow. It’s very good.
Don’t miss it.
Speculation question:
Reynolds sometimes refers to Serenity as boat, sometimes as ship.
Perhaps space ships, like submarines continue to be called boats becasue the forst were less than 100’ ?

Cool, when/how did you get to see it?
Do you know the date it’s going to be broadcast? All I’ve heard has been “in December.”
I, er, found it lying in the street.
These guys say 20 December.

It’s certainly not on any file sharing services, that’s for sure.
While I’ve got you here, do the Reviers remind you of Apaches or Commancheros in 60’s Westerns?
Er… I’ll say in a little bit.
I was in the U.S. Navy for four years, carnivorousplant, and I never heard of the 100’ standard you refer to for the boat/ship boundary.
We used to say you can put a boat on a ship, but not vice-versa. There’s no formal distinction that I know of.
As for Firefly, I reckon it just sounds more folksy, and thus more Western, to say “boat” instead of “ship.”
Well you can, but it tends to end in court martial.
Subs are often referred to as boats, rather then ships.
Please watch Firefly tonight! Tell your friends (especially if they Nielsen boxes!)
Apparently Fox will cease production on this show if tonight’s episode doesn’t get high enough ratings.

I saw it about a month ago as well.
It was better than their aired pilot.
It is on file-sharing services. I won’t say where, but let’s just say you should mesh it out a bit.
If you don’t participate in the ratings, it doesn’t matter.
Thanks for the link, Bicyclops
so, are you one-eyed wearing a monocle?, regular two-eyed? or one-eyed who likes the ladies and the fellas? just wasting time, no offense meant. I have no clue, you see… God, I love saying that
No kidding. A lot of shows take a beating in the ratings because they don’t ask enough people what they’re watching. I would gladly do the Neilson thing, but no, they don’t even ask me :wally
I’m watching the show right now
Damn! Looks like Jayne is the traitor. I wonder if their will be some sort of plot twist?
this is such a good series…
Does anyone know what order they are supposed to be seen in?
i’ve been searching the links for that. hard to make heads of tails of that Q
I made my dad and my grandfather sit down and watch it tonight. They’re huge Star Trek fans.
Some of their comments:
“they wouldn’t have handcuffs 500 years from now.”
“Well…it’s a tad…gory.”
“This sure isn’t Enterprise.”
“Is this a futuristic medical drama?”
“So the Alliance is like the Federation, right?”
“I’m not understanding this at all. This isn’t like Star Trek.”
I don’t think I’ve convinced them. Bah, who cares. I’m still watching.
Yeah great episode tonight. I usually miss it but i caught it this week and I’m glad I did. Loved the ending too. Someone going to start a thread for it?
carnivorousplant:
That’s why the suggestion to pester your friends and hopefully some of them will have Nielsen boxes. (One of mine did!)
Even if you’re not on Nielsen, you can show your support by emailing Fox or participating in the fireflysupport.com efforts. Might help.
The overnight ratings should be up soon. Hope it’s good news.
Aint It Cool News has the original order here (spoilery if you haven’t seen Ariel yet):
NoClueBoy:
One nearsighted eye and one farsighted eye. Makes depth perception and and questions such as “Are these lined up?” or “Is this straight?” a little tricky.
And speaking of “Is this straight?”, I like the ladies. I knew this name would be misinterpreted that way. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
