Re: Ass-sucking

It has come to my attention that there has been an excess of ass-suckage from the management of the Fox network of late, and I would like to take this opportunity to ask those responsible to go jump in front of a train. It would save me the trouble of going on a messy, time-consuming killing spree.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this pressing matter.

God, this show is good. Great pilot (and why was it they couldn’t show that in the first place? Would have made things a lot less confusing).
Love the characters. Love the story. Love Serenity.

In the name of all that is holy, Please, PLEASE, UPN, take this show!!! I’ve got to get at least ONE thing on my wish list, this x-mas, 'cause I’m clearly not getting a new job, or a million dollars, or another Superbowl win. Surely this year can’t be a total wash!

That’s ‘wash’ with a lower-case w.

Don’t you mean “in a lake”, kn(serial killer)ckers?
You could rescue them and keep their wallets, “Just to let them dry out”. $20.00 bills will survive spin dry, and not only do you avoid the murder charges, but you take care of at least part of your cash flow problem.

Bye bye Firefly. :frowning:

Another good episode. Mal was a bit different in nature in the pilot, but the rest seemed close. Book seemed a bit off as well, but it could be the fresh out of the abbott issue.

It would have helped to play this episode first-- but that’s just crazy talk.

Oh boy-- Fastlane is taking its place.

Other then the obvious (rot in hell Fox!!) lets discuss some of the Joss/show-based decisions which helped with the show’s demise.

  1. The “western” aspects were distracting, could easily been done without, and smacked of a gimmick at times. Sounded good on paper, but wasn’t needed.

  2. Too many characters at times.

  3. River. The River scenes and plot were by far the worst of the show.

  4. Wash basically not used except for one episode. The jealous husband thing was a bit tired at times.

  5. Was paced as though it had many years to go (probably from helming Buffy and Angel).

Still it was great TV and will be missed. The only upside is that hopefully Joss will pay more attention to Buffy and Angel, now that the stupid Buffy cartoon, Firefly and Ripper (I believe) are dead.

I really hate to agree with you, elf, so I’ll pick on your non-enumerated comments.
I think the Reynolds and Shepherd thing was character development. Watching the episodes in order would prove interesting.

And as for the rest; the Western aspect was a good idea, it just should have really been played down. Non traditional acoutrements (and spell sheckers) for the horses would have been good as well as avoiding “cowboy” firearms.

My only gripe about Firefly is that during the episode in which River nearly gets burned at the stake, Zoe says that their buyer is “Chomping at the bit.”

The word is “champing.” That’s what horses do at bits. They don’t chomp at them. The chomp on carrots. They champ at bits.

Whew. Good to have that off my chest - I’ve been holding a grudge about that chomping thing for weeks. But it surely had nothing to do with the show getting cancelled

Other than that, yeah, there were a stack of characters, so it was kinda hard to keep track of them all (tended to require about 3 seperate storylines per episode), and River could be a bit of a bore, but I LIKED all the characters- even River, so I can’t complain about that.

FYI - if you want Firefly to get picked up by UPN, consider writing a letter of support to:

Dawn Tarnofsky-Ostroff
President, Entertainment (CEO)

Might be a little late, if they’re planning to decide this week, but it can’t hurt to try.
carni: Thanks for the jumping-in-a-lake tip. I was actually going to use that, originally, but it didn’t sound violent enough. True story.

Kn(Who, me? Violent?)ckers

Memo to self: Get someone with mirrored shades to stand in front if Kn(see her violent reflection)ckers is behind me.

I’m still baffled by the decision to not air the premeire episode first. I mean, they hire these creative people to make the show, then just screw with the works after the fact. They blew their one and only opportunity to make a big splash with the 2hr show, they air the episodes out of order, and then cancel it.

ugh!

AAAUUUGGHHH!!! MY VCR FAILED TO WORK FRIDAY!!!

Damn power glitches.

You just know I’m going to end up at a scifi convention somewhere, sitting in a dark room for 14 hours to watch every episode… in the order they were intended to be shown.

Oh…my. That’s an…interesting misphrasing… Puts Shepherd Book in a WHOLE new light…

I kept having the same thought while watching the premire:

“… and they kept John Doe?

Hey leave **John Doe ** alone. It got better numbers then Firefly did- and is better then 85% of the crap on TV. True, Firefly was better, but the two were not related. They made a nice block of TV.

When I saw Fastlane was taking its place (at least for a while) that is when I had a similar reaction. Fastlane is better then Firefly? Huh?

Oh well, Fox sucks.
