What was the first amusement ride to use a 360 degree dome screen? I believe it was Back to the Future: the Ride. I’m not sure if the ride used a 360 degree screen though. Am I wrong? Wondering if anyone has info on what the first ride to use a 360 degree dome screen was.
Back to the Future didn’t. At least, not if you are referring to the ride at Universal Studios Hollywood.
A 360 degree dome?
The IMAX dome for BttF:TR only extended to the front and sides(not behind or beneath the ride vehicles, obviously) as seen inthis diagram.
I don’t know if you’d call it a ride, but my first wrap-around experience was Circle-Vision 360 - America the Beautifulat Disneyland. People stood in the middle of the theater, next to hand rails, so that we’d be free to turn around and look in all directions.
It’s been closed for awhile. I kind of miss it.
In that case, I wonder if that takes away from the experience of the ride.
So, no info on what the first ride to use a 360 degree dome screen was?
