Cathy Lane from the Patty Duke show. I’m not old enough to have watched the original (and Pakistan did not even have television at the time) but it was shown in reruns when I was in secondary school (age 10-14) and I could not wait to see her each week. I remember being really pissed at having to go to church on Maundy Thursday because I would miss an episode (no DVR or even VCRs at the time).
It was the lifelong “brainiac” kink. Every girl and women I have loved have been Ivy League material. Mrs Mouse was in the newspaper for her GaoKao score and prior to meeting her I dated people who were destined to go to, were at, or graduated from, MIT, Dartmouth and Yale!
NPR’s Scott Simon interviewed her a few years before she died and reminded her that he had interviewed her many years earlier, when he was a young reporter at the outset of his career (and completely smitten with her). He joked, “It was a very hard-hitting interview. I think my first question was, ‘Just what is it that makes you so wonderful, Miss Rigg?’”
