First Marvel and DC Movies you saw

What is the first movie you ever saw based in the Marvel Universe, and what is the first move you ever saw based in the DC universe? No animation, please.

DC: Superman vs. the Mole Men (TV version) For an actual movie in a theater, it’s be Superman

Marvel: Howard the Duck. Yeah, that surprised me, too.

Based on these lists, it would be Howard the Duck and Superman, respectively.

For Marvel, probably the first Tobey Maguire “Spider-Man”.

For DC, the 60’s “Batman” movie with Adam West.

On preview, I see “Howard the Duck” mentioned. I’ve tried to forget about that one, but yeah I guess that would also be my first one for Marvel.

Howard The Duck
Batman(1966)

Superman II

The Punisher (1989)

I do remember seeing reruns of the old Superman TV show.

The first DC movie I saw was the 1966 Adam West Batman movie. I saw it on TV.

For Marvel the first TV movie I saw was the Hulk movie.

Surprisingly Howard the Duck is the first real Marvel movie and I did see that when it came out.

Howard the Duck, and Superman (the Christopher Reeve one). In the theater for both.

I think I’ll exclude tv movies-most of them were just extended length pilots for series.

Superman and probably X-men. Possibly Blade for Marvel though.

I saw parts of the Batman movie serials and the Superman serials from the 1940s. They were done on the cheap, and were pretty unimpressive.
I avoided the 1960s Batman movie – I HATED the TV Batman with a passion.

I saw various TV shows and TV movies in the 1970s (Spiderman, Wonder Woman as a TV movie before the series), but those have been disqualified.

so the 1979 Salkind Superman movie and the first X-men movie from 2000 would probably be the first “real movie” of each brand that I saw.

Actually, you might count the 1982 Schwartzenegger movie Conan the Barbarian as the first Marvel movie – Conan had been running as a Marvel comic since 1970, and was undoubtedly a factor in the character’s popularity. But, then again, you might not.

I don’t think that Conan was ever considered to be a canonical part of the Marvel universe (then again, I may be mistaken), which’d put me in the “you might not” camp.

Similarly, Marvel published Star Wars comic books, but the Star Wars characters and movies aren’t considered to be part of the Marvel universe canon, either.

Marvel - X-Men
DC - Superman II

Let’s stick to non-licensed characters.

Superman (possibly the 66 Batman, but not 100% sure) and Blade.

I probably saw the '66 Batman or at least parts of it on TV, but my first clear memory of a superhero movie in theater is Superman, 1978.

If we’re only counting films that had a theatrical release, likely X-Men for Marvel. I can’t remember seeing Blade in theater and I’ve never seen Howard the Duck.

DC- The 1978 Christopher Reeve Superman
Marvel - **Men In Black **. If that doesn’t count, then Iron Man 2

DC - Batman Returns
Marvel - Either Blade or X-Men. I saw X-Men in theaters, but not Blade. So I’m not sure if I rented Blade before X-men came out.

This is my exact answer as well. I’m almost 100% sure that Superman was the first superhero movie I’ve ever seen but there’s a chance that Batman was first.

Hard to imagine today but Blade came out 20 years after Superman and was the first Marvel movie to “make it” after the Punisher, Captain America, and The Fantastic Four’s troubles. For purposes of this statement, I’m ignoring Howard the Duck.

Same.
