First openly gay Disney characters?

If you’re going to go with gay from the Lion King, there’s Timon and Puumba (Nathan Lane, Timon’s voice actor in the movie, claims they are a couple…I don’t know if Puumba’s VA or any of the writers have weighed in).

I wonder if Gravity Falls is the first Disney show to have on-screen deaths, though.

Huh? Back to the wicked witch in Snow White, there have been plenty Disney on-screen deaths…? (I haven’t seen Gravity Falls)

So are we all ignoring the word “openly” in the thread title and OP?

I can think of Disney animated characters who seemed gay to me, but none who were actually out and proud.
