‘Kingpin’ had a flamethrower too. That wasn’t anywhere near as good a game as CW, though.
Am I the only person left that still plays Quake 3?
The missions in “Call of Duty” are too simplistic and easily accomplished. I finished the entire game in three days of sporadic playing, which was disappointing after paying $50 for it. “Medal of Honor” is much more realistic, the weapons more authentic, and the missions more challenging (some to the point of exasperation). The expansion packs are less so.
Did you play it on the hardest setting? I think MoH:AA was much much easier on the hardest setting.
Has anyone else has serious performance problems with the expansion packs for Medal of Honor? Breakthrough and Spearhead seriously drag on my 2 ghz Athlon. It gets to the point where I stop playing them for awhile because it’s too frustrating. The original game didn’t give me this problem. Also, when I go to save or load a game, especially the first time, I could leave the room and make a freakin pot of coffee in the time it takes. OK, I am annoyed again just thinking about it.
To go back a bit: you can go through the levels in the Hitman games pretty much any way you want, but some methods tend to be inherently more successful. I once converted a friend by describing Hitman 2 as a puzzle game where the goal happened to be to eliminate the target and bug out.
I personally like the ‘sneaky bastard’ style of play, since it seems more in character and you get bonuses in the second for being rated “Silent Assassin” (as opposed to ratings like “Bagman,” “Cleaner,” or the worst “Mass Murderer.” C’mon, the guy’s supposed to be a professional!). That, and it was pretty neat to look at my records and see that I finished the game while firing less than a dozen rounds and inflicting as little mayhem as possible.
Don’t play much Q3, but I play the Urban Terror mod quite a bit.
Good Lord, are you saying Call of Duty is tougher than MoH:AA’s Snipertown level played on hard?
That’d be a good reason to avoid Call of Duty. I enjoy a challenge as much as anyone, but sheesh…
Well, Snipertown was extremely hard and trial by error relative to the rest of the game. CoD feels much more realistic. The ability to lean makes gun battles so much more immersive.
in CoD you can go prone, which was sorely lacking from MoH. I’m enjoying the game so far. I find some levels easy, and some extremely difficult.
Unfortunately for MoH online play, cheating has become rampant. The makers of CoD have indicated they will implement some sort of punk-buster type fix soon so CoD online isn’t spoiled by the cheaters.
As for the performance issues with Spearhead and Breakthrough, I didn’t notice any, but I’m running an Athlon 2600, 1 gig of ram, and a decent vid card Ti4200. RAM is a likely bottleneck.
And I love the feeling that you’re really diving when you’re running then go prone.
Had to use that during the first Russian mission.
I still play Quake 2.
Nothing beats a good Lithium deathmatch or Weapons Factory CTF game.
Bah. I still play Doom and Wolfenstein.
