First Snow

i wonder how many there is…
it was great to wake up and see snow. Personally i love the snow, so much more u can do with it than rain, i mean, have you ever been hit with a rainball… or tried to catch hail on ur tongue?
neither works anywhere near as well, especially that hail catching, its like having a big m&m hit your tooth

and sue, of course we beat you, we always beat you…

I am absolutely looking forward to hitting the road this afternoon! For the record, I’m a Buckeye. I was born near Dayton and went to OSU for more than the prescribed 4 years. I remember the blizzard of '78 and the -50 degrees day or two we had in the mid-90’s where they actually closed campus for a whole day due to some silly fact that if you were outside for more than 30 seconds your skin would freeze. I’m a sweater-guy. I have turtlenecks, flannel and fleece. The thing I like about the cold is that you can always put more clothes on if you’re cold, but with the heat (and humidity) down here in NC, there is only so much you can take off before you are out of options.

I’m be based downtown, I believe the office is on East State street, on the corner of State and Fourth. I’m thinking of the North, N/W Columbus area, but I won’t really know until I get up there. I might just take you up on the offer of help, thanks (you, too, Satan)

::Homeward bound::

I love snow. Love driving in it.(Though only to do donuts and go slipping and sliding in an empty parking lot.) Love watching it fall. Love playing in it. Love the eerily perfect silence from a fresh covering.

Unfortunately, we won’t get a decent snowfall that will stay on the ground longer than 3 seconds for about another month and a half to two months.

Detroit seems to be the weakest place in Michigan when it comes to snow fall. Most places in the state measure it in feet. But we seem to get in only in a couple of inches at a time.

Oh well, can’t wait to get snow. Summer’s fun but it doesn’t remind you that you’re alive like a biting wind that threatens to freeze you instantly as you run from class to class.

Well, it’s mixed with a bit of rain, but as of about 2 minutes ago, Denver, Colorado checks in with the first snow of the year in these parts.

I’ve got a dirt lot with my truck’s name ALL over it. Time to do some REALLY nasty mudding!

Ahhh…the '90s storm. That was horrific. What was that…1994? I lived out in the 'burbs at that point, and it was absolutely frigid. School was cancelled for something like 10 days because it was too cold to wait for buses. 3 inches of ice under 15 inches of snow. Beautiful.

OSU has been cancelled once SINCE then, too, when I was lucky enough to experience it. I got halfway to class before I heard (and I “heard” when I ran into my TA, who was leaving). Made me wish I’d left the house 5 minutes later, because I probably would have seen the news report.

As for places to live…well, I’m not sure how much money you have, but the Short North/Victorian Village has actually become quite the nice place to live. Depending on when you left, you might think it was a shithole overrun by crack whores and hillbillies, but now it’s been restored and renovated, and it’s the art district. Lots of nice little restaurants and art galleries, incredibly cute restored apartments and homes. Can be slightly expensive. A cheaper alternative, especially if you live alone, is Grandview–slightly south of Upper Arlington. Nice housing, you’re close to everything you need (including downtown). Lots of graduate students live there, but you get a good mix of people in the neighborhood. Some real gems, if you know where to look. There are some nice suburban apartments in that netherworld between Worthington and Dublin, if you want to live in the 'burbs, but the commute would be hell. The north part of Clintonville is another place you might want to try–it’s a bit hit-or-miss though.

I’ll have to throw a Columbus Dopefest before I leave. I’m only here until December 10th, but I have an entire week or so of down time before I go.

I am about 60 miles south of Cynical and it’s snowing very hard where I live.

Just got back from my brother’s house but luckily it’s not sticking to the roads yet! It’s a big fluffy and wet snow though…the grass that I have killed should love this!

I’m in Florida, where it’s hot 10 or 11 months out of the year…sigh…

Calgary can keep the snow! I’m an Edmontonian now and I don’t like snow I hate the stuff I hate being cold (I also hate being too warm but thats another story) no snow! It can stay away this year! Please…

Oh and those Chinooks btw they aren’t all that warm… you have to put up with wind chill despite the fact that the snow is melting/melted.

Send some of that white stuff over here!

Dammit I’m gonna miss Colorado weather this year. Moved to San Diego, and they’re all freaked out by my ice scraper, which I will still keep in my car, right next to the boogie board.
