“Firsts” in this election

I heard that Trump or Sanders would be the oldest President ever elected, so either one would be the first president elected over 69 years old. Reagan was 69 when first elected.

Come to think of it, wouldn’t Trump be the first twice-divorced President?

Reagan is the only President who had had a divorce before his Presidency, so Trump would certainly be the first double-divorcee.

Here are some other Trump firsts:

First President that had his own board game.

First President to have his own reality show.

First President to own a professional football team (USFL)?

First President to publish a New York Times best-seller. “[The Art of the Deal] reached #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list and held a position in the list for 51 weeks.” (WIKI)

“The Audacity of Hope” was a #1 NYT bestseller in 2006.

ETA: Eisenhower’s war memoirs also topped the list prior to his election.

Franklin Roosevelt wasn’t really all that wealthy. He was certainly well off but the Roosevelts were more of an “old money” family; they were mostly living off the wealth of past generations. Hoover was significantly wealthier than Roosevelt was.

Clinton would be the first president who has had sex with another president…that we know of…

In the highly unlikely event that Martin O’Malley pulls off an upset win, he will be the first President born in Washington DC.

So he would. Wonder how it worked out that way? It’s not like names beginning with S are rare.

What about Profiles of Courage by JFK?

I doubt any of the American planter-gentry of Washington’s day were anything like billionaires in today’s terms. Maybe some were by John C. Calhoun’s day.

Here’s an interesting coincidence; no President has ever been an only child. And none of the current candidates are only children either so the string won’t be broken.

These were all the most surprising to me.

As far as I can tell no previous president was from Brooklyn. (Maybe the “not distinctive” part is that there have certainly been other presidents from NYC?)

Would a Trump-Sanders general election matchup be the first ever between two candidates from NYC?

Obama’s Audacity of Hope was also a #1 best seller.

Theodore Roosevelt is the only President who was born in New York City (in Manhattan).
