Fish v. Kobach (Kansas voter rights lawsuit)

It’s OK though - the state is going to pay his fine.

To be fair, the legislature did try to pass a provision that would prevent the state from paying legal fees for contempt of court judgements, but ultimately dropped it.

This case has finally been adjudicated. The judge ruled that the Kansas voter law is unconstitutional. And Kris Kobach is ordered to go back to school to sharpen up his lawyering skills.

You can read the article here.

I thought that was going to just be a metaphorical smackdown. But no, it’s literally true. I like this Judge Robinson.

LOL, he was such a bad lawyer he got sentenced to law school.

(Not quite, but it’s a good line and I don’t want to waste it. )

How is it so easy, in politics, for idiots to rise so far above their abilities?

Thank Og this judge was around; I hope there are more like her.

I disagree; it’s an excellent line. And no, you shouldn’t waste it.

Totally agree with Snowboarder. Excellent line and it shouldn’t be wasted. I hope that I have permission to use it myself!

Please, please, by all means, go ahead.

Can we all just come to agreement that when a Republican complains about “voter fraud” we can just refer to their claim as a Fauxter Fraud case?

I’m not sure this is entirely legal and Constitutional. I mean, we as a society assign certain learned persons to make these decisions and give them nifty vinyl robes…

Bumped.

SCOTUS smacks Kobach around a little more.

You do realize that the SCOTUS only grants cert in less than 3% of the cases presented each term. A denial of cert is just that, nothing more, and certainly not “smacking” anyone around.

I do know that. But this can hardly have been welcome holiday news at Kasa Kobach.
