Maybe the school administrators were Republicans?
From everything that i’ve heard of the case, she accomplished her tasks on a one-on-one basis. The five to one situation that the school talks about is the fact that she did it five times in a row. There was no circle, there was no group.
I’m sure she did perform one at a time. But I’ve seen nothing to suggest that all five were not present in the locker room at the same time, and the spokeswoman’s statement suggests that they were all present at some point during the incident. It wouldn’t be a five to one situation if all five were never present at the same time.
The Globe is vague about whether all five were present at once, but from reports i’ve heard earlier this week, mainly through radio, it wasn’t so. But it seems the details haven’t really been released, so everything is pretty much speculation.
The thing that i don’t understand is how the girl is 15 years old and a sophomore, and the boys are 3 sophomores and two juniors and they range in ages from 16 to 18.
18 year-old juniors?
[must…resist…hockey player…joke…]
Well, yes, that is rather odd.
Not really. My 17 year old niece is a junior ( birthday is in Feb), so he might only be a year behind.
Now about the 15 year old girl being a sophomore, while the boys were spohomores and juniors ranging from 16-18- probably mostly has to do with birthdays and school cut-off dates. When my kids started school they had to be 4 by 12/31 to start pre-k, five by 12/31 to start kindergarten. So late in the year birthdays started pre-k at 3, and early in the year birthdays turned 5 before it was over. But there was some play right around the cut-off dates- a kid who turned 5 in late December could have been placed in either pre-k or K, and one who turned 4 on 1/1 might be allowed the start the Sept before.
So, maybe it was a lot more like rape than you think.
And it’s consensual not consentual.
Spelling Nazi mode off.
What reports did you hear? Who from?
Statutory rape, sure. Just like I already stated above. Forcible rape? Still looks vague to me.
Whye r u teling me thatt?
Vague? According to this article:
I don’t know about you, but to me the wording strongly suggests that all six people were in the locker room at the same time.
And from this article:
I can think of no way to parse these paragraphs that would suggest that all five guys weren’t in the room at the same time.
There’s also the possibility that due to physical health problems around the time a kid would normally enter kindergarten the doctor recommends that they wait an extra year until their health improves.
More fools they!
Seriously. Teenagers are going to have some kind of sexual outlet, and only an idiot would expect otherwise. Perhaps we should encourage the safest option – masturbation – but we know what happened to SG Elders when she tried to break ground there. So why should we be surprised, or disapproving, when they find other ways?
On planet Earth parents typically try to keep their 15 year old daughters away from environments where they’ll be asked to give gang blow jobs to a half dozen hockey players in a locker room. And as inexplicable as it may sound, they’re even less likely to cough up $25K a year for that privilege.
Anyway good call all around by Milton. The whole sleaze-fest makes the place look like Tailhook for tots. Ugh. I feel sorry for the administrators. Can’t think of a thing to criticize.
This horse is beyond dead, ralph. Where it lies, flowers are blooming.
What bearing does this have on the case? “There’s sex on TV, so kids aren’t responsible for their actions?” Please.
That’s why I qualfied it with “maybe.” Anytime you’ve got a 5/1 disparity and all the male participants are older than the female participant, it’s very reasonable to wonder if things are as consensual as they are painted. Doesn’t mean they’re NOT consensual, but with that kind of situation, I would not be likely to take anyone on their word.
My mistake. It was more of a general complaint than anything directed at you. If you are going to post on a thread about rape or suspected rape, you should know how to spell “consensual” as it’s a key concept.
I think if you think that’s “everything” you need to take the filters off your computer and do some looking around.
Also, where can I see Britnehy Spears gyrating around in a thong (and presumably, very little else)? She’s GREAT at gyrating around, I’d LOVE to see that.
While I don’t buy the “kids have seen everything” or “Clinton said it was OK” arguments, I agree with the OP that this was no big deal. Teenagers engaging in oral sex… yawn. There might be cause for alarm if there were evidence that it was nonconsensual, but in the cited articles, there isn’t even a claim that anyone was coerced, other than this:
Uh huh. If that’s coercion, then so is every strip club or bachelor party where the ratio of men to women is 5:1 or higher.
Excepot, of course, that in a strip club or a bachelor party, the woman in question is generally over the age of consent.
Which, of course, affects the legality, but not the morality or “big deal” factor.
A couple of teenagers performed sexual acts. Oh my goodness! What is the world coming to? Kids these days, honestly!
[/idiotic overreaction]
The school administration is full of crap here. My sophomore year of high school a three-way got broken up in a boy’s bathroom (possibly the least appealing environment ever, btw). Those involved were punished equally, and it was written off as “Teens tend to be both horny and not overly mature”. Expulsion, in this case, is utterly ridiculous.
According to the school’s website, the tuition (for high school!!!) is $25,675 per year for ‘day students’. Somehow, that makes me less surprised that this is even an issue…)
