FLA recount updates thread

55 counties, 781 votes. The recount does not appear likely at this point to change the outcome, and it appears that the Gore people have shifted their focus to “voting irregularities”.

BTW John, Gore leads in Oregon with 96% of the vote counted. At least acording to these folks.

So much for the Washington Post being my bastion of information; they hadn’t updated the Oregon stats since 6:00 PM yesterday.

Still, Gore’s only leading by 2,000 votes there.

Pinellas County just turned in the results of the second recount. Bush is still leading, but only by 403 votes now.

Recount in Wisconsin and Iowa likely according to Karl Rove. Also, there is currently a recount going on in one county in New Mexico.

What I can’t figure out is why the Bush lead steadily decreases. What theory, conspiracy or other, would explain the fact that 75% of the miscounted votes should be Gore ones? This seems to have been the case in almost every county. (For conspiracy buffs - who knew it would be this close, and decided to make a massive statewide conspiracy to rob Gore of only 1,400 votes?)

Republicans are almost flat out accusing Palm beach county of vote fraud. They are drawing attention to the padded total in the recount for Gore.
This should get interesting.

Gop E-mail update for your consumption:

62 of 67 counties in, Bush leading by 341.

Wow. This is getting really interesting now. I’ve just heard that these remaining five counties leaned toward Bush in the first count, so maybe Bush will pick up a few more.

I’m captivated by this whole thing. I feel like I’m watching history being made. It’s fascinating.

The Bush campaign reports that in the 1996 presidential election Palm Beach County invalidated 14,872 ballots due to double punching. When you factor in the higher turnout this year, 19,000 invalidated ballots does not seem quite so shocking.

64 of 67

Bush by 362

The above is according to CNN.

according to MSN.com, theres a substantial # of absentee voters in Israel who traditionally vote democratic.

this could get even uglier.

According to KGO radio in San Francisco, Bush is now leading by only 225 votes with 3 counties left to count.

So what’s the hold up with these last three counties? Very curious…

I looked at Salon.com a few minutes ago, and I think that organization reported Bush is up 367 votes with three counties to go.

Last heard on TV news. Bush is up 284 (or 280 something) with two counties left to go. The last counties are northern counties and were suspected to be Bush supporters.

Oops, Bush 225 ahead with 65 of 67 reporting.

Why did ABC say Bush by something like 1700. Sorry I can’t remember the correct number.I thought someone here would have posted that number already.

CNN.com has Bush up 225, with only Manatee and Seminole Counties not reporting.

I mis-spoke in my post above. It was 65 out of 67 counties reporting, as is made obvious by the other fine folks who posted after me.
