Flash player in Opera

I use Opera browser, have used it for years, and love it. Some things, though, just don’t seem to work right.

Flash works fine on 90% of websites, but every once in awhile I’ll come across a site where it won’t work right, or won’t work at all. Sometimes it just won’t load, sometimes it’ll tell me I need to install flash.

The reason it’s important to me is because my friend is a musician, and keeps bugging me to listen to his new music on Myspace. Their music player worked fine when I started visiting that site a few years ago. Then it started glitching occasionally. I would sometimes have to reload a page a few times to get it to work. Then it started working very rarely. Now it doesn’t even load; instead it says:

Get Flash now!

In order to listen or view this content you will have to upgrade your version of Flash.

I click it, get the new flash, reload the browser. Same thing. I’ve even uninstalled and reinstalled flash. I’m using Opera 10 at the moment, but I’ve been through several versions since this started happening. It works fine in IE.

Is Flash properly installed in Opera?

[ul]
[li]Test it by going to this Adobe web site. If the test succeeds, Flash is properly installed for the web browser you are using. If you now experience problems with Flash on a different web site (your friend’s MySpace page), the problem is not with your browser and your installed version of Flash.[/li][/ul]

Is Flash improperly installed in Opera?

[li]If yes, remove the improper version first, then start over and reinstall it. Now perform the test above to ensure the installation was successful.[/li][/ul]
