Flemister as a last name

Just curious, what is the backround of the last name Flemister? Is it a jewish last name?

My sources indicate it’s of Flemish origin, i.e. designating someone as being from Flanders, or the portion of Belgium next to the Netherlands. See also Vlaams-Nederlands, or flemish netherlands. As such it’s similar to Fleming.

I’ve no idea of it’s a common surname for Flemish jews though.

The only person named Flemister I’ve ever know of was a guy named Zeron Flemister, a tight end for the Washington Redskins in the early 2000s. I always thought it was an awesome name, though he doesn’t look particularly Belgian or Flemish.
