I’m pretty sure that, if necessary, that thing could kill John Connor.
I don’t know what is being developed in this area, but I was very impressed with this vehicle. It certainly could have great applications in various arenas. Makes me wonder what is going on with the developers who are working on applications that mimic insect wing motions.
Oh, the military’s got stuff that’s cooler than that.
The Honeywell T-Hawk is about the same size (14" in diameter), but it has a gimbaled video camera, infra-red sensors, a 5000 ft ceiling, and a 50 minute loiter time.
The Coyote is launched from an aicraft in a ‘Sonobuoy’ tube. It drops to low altitude, then pops out of the tube, its wings extend, and you’ve got a little UAV that can fly around for 90 minutes as much as 20 miles from the aircraft that dropped it. So you can keep your expensive UAV or manned aircraft at a safe distance and check out stuff with these little guys.
The Wasp is only 5 inches across, yet it can fly for over an hour and a half and has two video cameras. When it’s more than a hundred feet or so in the air, you can’t hear it and it’s nearly impossible to see. They’re launched with what looks like a slingshot.
There are UAVs out there with full video systems and navigation that weigh only a few grams. The Delfly Micro weighs only 3 grams! And it carries a camera. Amazing.
Well fuckitall, there’s only one thing to do–I’m starting work tomorrow morning on a UAV with 8 MOTHERFUCKING PROPS!!!
