I have a few floodlights that still work but I want to pull them out of the track lighting in the kitchen and put them in the outlet outside. Problem is that they dont work. My first thought was that an flourescent bulb may have an issue if there is a ballast in the track lighting but not outside except I’m sure (not 100%) that one of the lights that works inside and not outside is incandescent.
Any ideas to test out? And yes I know the outside outlet works.
what markings are on the bulb or the package they came in?
We’re renting so just wattage. The light I’m sure is incandescent is the same wattage as a light that already works outdoors.
Is the socket outside photocell-controled? Those may have issues with CFLs.
That, and, it just won’t work during the day to begin with unless you cover up the cell for a few minutes.
not photocell controlled.
Two lightbulbs: This and That
4 Sockets: I1, I2, O1, O2; I = indoor, O = outdoor - I’m pretty sure I1 is recessed track light while I2, O1 and )2 are standard screw-in outlets. All 4 outlets work.
This works in O1 and O2 no problem
That works in I1 but not I2 or O1 or O2.
What’s up with That?
I may not remember this correctly, and I don’t know how it applies here, but some low wattage fixtures narrow at the base of the socket, and only low wattage bulbs that are narrower at the base will make contact. Higher wattage bulbs won’t go all the way in. But I don’t see an outdoor floodlight socket being rated for low wattage.
