Florida "FlexiVote"

Many may be puzzled by the exceedingly slow vote count in Florida. And many more may not care, since the Presidential race is decided. But what is actually going on in Florida is a beta test of the GOP FlexiVote system which is designed to provide “customizable” voting results. Florida is the beta test, next election cycle the system will be rolled out throughout the Confederacy (including Arizona).

The set up element of the system is clogging the voting process. Minimizing early voting opportunities, making people wait in line to get absentee ballots, loading up the ballot with numerous and lengthy initiatives and amendments, eliminating any polling place planning whatsoever, limiting the number of polling places to a ridiculously low number, etc. Future enhancements include literacy tests and loyalty oaths.

Then after the voting system is clogged to a halt and the votes pile up the key element of GOP FlexiVote comes into play. Partisan “specialists” carefully go over each ballot. Any ballot not from a “True American” is carefully tossed aside. “Valid” ballots are then “scrutinized” to to divine the voters “original intent,” then the votes are tallied as necessary to provide the preordained outcome.

GOP FlexiVote, coming to a polling place near you in 2016!

Cite?

The bit about minimizing early voting is true and ridiculous, and it’s true there were tons of ballot initiatives in Florida this year. It’s true that a lot of states need to make major improvements to their voting procedures and Florida is the worst of the lot. But I won’t hold my breath about a cite for the rest of this stuff; this thread is the second Google hit for “FlexiVote.”

More proof that the SDMB rules!

Is there some new meaning of Confederacy, or are you saying the south is rising again, and FlexiVote is leading the way?

He’s saying the Old South (plus Arizona) has been solid Red for a while now and the Republicans want to keep it that way. Florida is just the least-Red of the bunch, but with the Black Belt skewing Blue it’s time to Do Something about minorities getting to vote now.

Oh well. If they lose Florida at least they’ll have Missouri. That’s almost as good, right?

Brought to you by the “Banana Republicans”.

So I suppose we’ll get to see whether the PSPFV (Prevent Some People From Voting) efforts of the future will be constrained by current laws.
