When a police officer kills someone in the line of duty the case almost always goes to a grand jury (at least in NJ) in order to let someone other than the police make the determination of whether the killing was justif

The state attorney’s office is putting together a grand jury right now. I’d like to think they were going to do it anyway and it’s not a response to the public outcry.
There’s a thread in IMHO with nearly 1,200 posts on this subject.

He was shot by a “watcher” while sitting on his front porch using his laptop and never got to finish the post. He left the computer on so I was just going to chime in under his handle. But then I looked the other thread and decided “Enough, already”.
