flowers blooming

How long does it take after you have planted for them to bloom?
3 weeks ago me and my son planted some impatients, allyssums, and calundulas in our front yard.
I see leaves, about 4 inches tall.
How long must I wait for blooms?
Last year we did the same thing, only with daisies and zinnias. They grew to about 12 inches, and when they didn’t bloom, I just ripped them all up.

Did you buy flats or did you plant from seed? If you bought flats, then you should see blooms once the plants have gotten over the shock of being transplanted. If you planted from seed, it takes considerably longer.

How long it takes to bloom depends a lot on your climate, soil, and whether the plants are getting enough sunlight.
Impatiens does pretty well in shade. Alyssum, I think, likes it sunny and relatively dry. Calendula are sort of marigoldish looking things, aren’t they? In which case they probably also like sun. In any event, be patient. You should see some signs of buds by early July.

BTW, I’m not sure ripping up the daisies was a good idea – a lot of them are perennials.
