Fluffers: Urban legend or otherwise?

In staff reports ( Where do male porn stars get their stamina? ), Euty claims that, “There are actually employees in the porn business called “fluffers” whose job it is to get the boys erect again so they can go back to work.”

HA! Or rather, (ha?). I’ve “heard” that fluffers are the work of overactive teenage imaginations and that the entire notion is an urban legend. I’ve also heard otherwise .

I’ve searched google and snopes and come up empty. So I put it to you, Cece, what’s the straight dope on fluffers?

It looks real. Mind you, there’s only so much I can take of Google searching that ends up in a whole lot of porn industry tell-alls, so no cite.

Well, I saw an excerpt from a porn “documentary” in which some porn queen was trying to break a record for most consecutive fucks (I think the record was several hundred, perhaps over a thousand). They put out a call for male volunteers and held the event in a large stadium.

While the queen was going at it with one guy, there were women “preparing” the next guys. I can’t think of any other term to describe them except fluffers. That’s what they were clearly doing.

How widespread the practice is, I couldn’t say.

I was just going to post something along these lines. I could have sworn during the “houston 500” that, in order to get the men ready, a “pregame” show was begun.

Keep in mind I haven’t seen the “houston 500” (at least not all of it:D ) , I believe I heard her and a “fluffer” on Howard Stern a while back.

The logic of a fluffer on a standard porn set escapes me. If there is a prettier, younger, more voluptuous girl available to keep the male stars “up,” why aren’t those girls the ones performing on camera? Wouldn’t they have a similar effect on the intended audience?

I seem to recall Ron Jeremy mentioning ‘fluffers’ in the Houston 500 pregame. Jeremy was going over the ground rules for the festivities.
