Fluffy the English Vampire Slayer

Found this on the net. It’s a wee bit old, so I’m not sure if it’s been brought to the attention of Dopers before, but I didn’t recognise it and a search didn’t show anything.

So, anyways:

FLUFFY

It’s a good site, but the best thing is the 18 minute fan-video/parody that can be downloaded. Very, very funny for the Buffy fans. Fluffy fights Count von Wheadon who is invincible since he got The Ring of Gellar (“Not Uri - some American”). Excellent production values for a fan made movie, including knobbly foreheads, dustings and lots of locations.

Enjoy!

:shameless bump:

So many views and not a single comment? Was I the only one who thought this was fan?

Thanks for pointing this out. I watched it and liked it. The production values are pretty good. The whole thing’s well put together, with some nice photography (notably their approach to the crypt at the end), and the editing’s snappy - not the interminable takes that can be a mark of budget filmmaking.

There’s some nice CGI effects, and the vampire dustings don’t look much worse than series 1 of the real thing. The fights aren’t exactly Buffy standard, but are none too shabby. The plot’s not bad either: they’ve borrowed a few ideas from Buffy, but it’s a nifty piece of storytelling. The acting’s adequate, better than I’ve seen in many amateur pieces.

I think overall it’s a good quality piece of filmmaking; I can think of many comedy sketch shows that wouldn’t manage as professional a job. My only complaint is that 30 meg is a big download for something that’s not particularly high-quality video. But if you’ve got broadband you should check it out.

Well my ISP is very good, so I dl’d it in notime. My complaint is that it’s Real Video™, which is always crappy resolution. They really put some moneys into the production and it works well as a parody, since many scenes reflect real scenes, i.e. poses, lines, editing. It’s obvious these people are hard core Buffy fans.

It took me some time to respond to this, but I really liked it. It was like revisiting the early episodes of Buffy. Fun, campy and lots of in-jokes. (from the scene in the trailer where the “Xander” guy squeezes the drink bottle up to the watcher’s american accent)

And I liked the scene where the Count turns into a Bat. Incidentally, I thought the Count was quite hot. But maybe it was his purple make-up
