So I’m flying to Mexico next month. Between my wife and myself we need to take Zoloft, Nasonex and Imitrex (off the top of my head). Here’s the thing, currently all we are using is samples. So my question is, can we just stick them in our luggage and not worry about them (without the script)*, is having the written prescription with the samples okay OR do we have to have the prescription filled and bring that? I assume coming back into the states is more of an issue, but if we lose some sample bottles coming home I’m not nearly as worried.
*We are lucky to have some nice doctors that instead of making us get expensive prescriptions filled (Zoloft $60/mo, Imitrex about $100 per DOSE, Nasonex about $100 per month) keep us stocked up with samples instead.
If the samples are still in their original packets or bottles, you should be OK, as long as you’re only bringing a reasonable quantity for personal use, as opposed to a huge pile that looks like you’re planning to sell it on the black market.
It wouldn’t hurt to also have the original written prescriptions.
