Flying to Tokyo in 7 hours

Well, the day has arrived. I still have to pack, so I’ll keep this brief. I’ll be in Tokyo from August 1st to the 28th. I’ll be doing an English-teaching job for two weeks, and the other two I will network and travel as money allows. I don’t really have any money, but I will get by thanks to parental loans. Hopefully I will find some side-jobs so that I can repay these quickly .

So, Japan dopers, if you’re not too upset at me for my last thread, then I’d love to hang out sometime. For the rest of the dope, maybe I’ll pick up some trinkets for some lucky posters.

Let’s hope there’s no Godzilla-related turbulence. またね~ (ttyl)

Ganbatte, Autolycus-san!

As my uncle who was in the Marines might say…

…actually, never mind, I think you know what I’m getting at.

Have…ahem…fun.

Wow! I’m excited for you. Hopefully we’ll get to hear all about it. Pics too?

My GF is coming over from Beijing, but indeed, fun will occur somehow or another.

And Butterfly, of course there will be pics!

Good luck!

PM me and I’ll send you my cell number. We can get together for some (cheap) beers.

Lately I’ve found myself growing more and more painfully nostalgic for Kyoto so right now I am insanely jealous of you.

Have some kaitenzushi for me!

I saw the thread title and wondered what kind of jet you were taking that let you make the trip in half the time.

I’m jealous, too. I was only in Tokyo for a week two years ago, and I still miss it terribly. My interaction with the people was usually embarrassing for me, but the city was just fantastic. Good luck and have fun.

I spent two years in Tokyo. You will have a brilliant time!

Tip - try to make sure you see Shinjuku for the first time at night. Go up the steps at the east exit of Shinjuku Station, look for Studio Alta (the big TV screen), look to your right, and go wow.

(There’s also a bar called Dubliners just up Shinjuku-Dori that does not too bad Guinness. And you will probably love Harajuku…)

Gambatte, and have an amazing time!

::feverishly starts to Google jobs in Tokyo::

I’m here. Posting from my 6-tatami sized room in the gaijin house. Everything is going swell. I’ll post a lot more tomorrow when I get a converter for my laptop. The one I brought doesn’t support anything over 50 volts… oops.

Dude! I wish I was there, too. But i can look at your pictures and live vicariously through you until I visit Tokyo at the end of this year.
