FM transmitter for MP3 player recommendations?

I’m thinking of getting one of those devices that inputs audio from an MP3 player and transmits it on FM to be played on the car radio. Any recommendations? I plan on using a non-iPod device (a Sansa MP3 player, FWIW).

If you can splurge on a car radio with a jack, it’s way better.

Those FM transmitters typically suck. Unless you drive within the same small area, you need to change the frequency so that you’re not bumping into one that the next town over uses.

Even when they’re at their best, they don’t sound that good.

I had one with my XM radio. Now, with my Zune, I use an aux jack, and it’s much better. Your current car radio may have a jack in the back from which you can run a cable through/around the console in your car.

There are old threads on this.

We discuss this every few months on the SDMB, and people either suggest their transmitter that they use (I use Monter’s Radio Play with good results), suggest you use a tape deck transmitter, or suggest that you somehow hard-wire or front-panel-plug your device into your radio.

Some people say they get great results with a transmitter - like me, it’s awesome on 90.1 all over Northeast Ohio - and some say that their reception stinks and they can’t get the damn thing to play at all. So YMMV.

Bought this one for my gf recently, seems to work well, charger and FM transmitter in one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LG13AY
