Yes, it would have been a long drive as Interstate 10 is just about the most southern Interstate Highway (the southernmost to go coast-to-coast AFAIK). I think he meant I-94, which turns into Highway 10 at Fargo.
How tragic. A true life Madama Butterfly. I wonder about Doug, the American married business man, and how this tragic outcome affected his marriage and his life. And how Takako’s Parents feel about the situation. Do they blame Doug? Did they have any clues as to why Takako was going to the US?
