Foods You Love To Eat, But Are A Pain To Make

Muchos gracias, Annie and CalMeacham.

De nada. I’m going to try the onion stew this week, I can smell it already!

Thanks for the recipe! I’m not one to usually use Bisquick and canned soups, but I was really in the mood for some chicken & dumplings yesterday, so I printed your recipe out and went to work. The only change I made was to add a sprig of fresh rosemary from the garden to the mix. It was fantastic. The Bisquick dumplings were a bit different than the normal dumplings I’m used to, but worked fine. Definitely a keeper of a recipe for those days I’m feeling lazy.

Cheesecake: not so hard to make

Three layered triple chocolate cheesecake: major pain in the butt, but super delish!

You need three double boilers (or makeshift ones, at least) to melt the three different types of chocolate properly. Not to mention the three mixing bowls you use, plus the entire battery of utensils you go through.

And if you’re like me, it not only has to taste good, it has to look pretty, too.
So add some more time and mess to the equation for making chocolate leaves, piping buttercream decorations, etc.

Recipe, please!

My husband hates onions. I love stifado.

Maybe I’ll make some next weekend, and eat it all myself.

I love real croissants, moussaka, baklava, pho (damned if I’m going to spend a whole day making the broth), crispy frites (deep frying scares me), gyoza, and any kind of complicated pastry. Not making any of them.

Gyros (what is it with those Greeks?)

Kolaches.

A shortcut is using the cheapest plain canned biscuits you can find, and cutting each one into quarters while trying to keep from overly squishing them, then sprinkle a dab of flour on each and add a few at a time to the broth.

I promise, it actually turns out pretty good!

:Bump:

Meat gravy recipe, please?

Sukiyaki.

Can cook most everything else, but this eludes me. Never even tried. Like Clint said, “A man’s got to know his limitations”.

Like a good slice of Prime Rib, one of the few dishes I will pay to eat out.

Chicken & Dressing.

You have to go through almost all the trouble of making chicken & dumplings, plus you have to bake three pans of cornbread. We only have it on holidays, but I want it every damn day, especially when it turns cold.
