So on Wednesday night I got a charley horse in my foot. After the initial shooting pain subsided, the tightness and aching pain is still there. No worse, no better. It’s nearly causing me to limp and definitely causing me to groan when the escalator is busted at the train station.
Hm, make a banana shake for the potassium, milk for calcium …
Soak the poor foot in a pan of the hottest water you can stand with some eucalyptus in it, or perhaps epsom’s salts
Dry it off after the water starts to cool, put some nice lotion on your hands and massage it for a few minutes and put a nice warm sock on it.
Relax the muscles and try to stay off it for the evening/night. Sometimes a cramp will stick around until you ‘break the cycle’ of cramping by enforced relaxation:)
All of the previous suggestions. Plus gentle stretching…
You didn’t say where exactly the spot that cramped up is but if your leg swells up and/or gets warm to the touch, go the hospital. You might have a blood clot. Not to scare you or anything… I just know from experience.
If you are becoming overweight, or have been overweight and getting older, the foot cramps become increasingly frequent, I can tell you from experience.
