I have seen a couple of different on-line sites refer to defensive players as having “stuffs”? What is a “stuff”, exactly?
I haven’t heard this term, but would guess it is pass knock downs. But that’s just a guess.
That was one guess I had. Another was runners stopped for no gain or in the backfield, which are technically not a sack. The first one should already fit under “passes defensed”, but you never know what those wily statisticians will be up to next.
I think you might have it there, I do recall hearing ‘…gets stuffed on the run’ and ‘Player X stuffs the run for no gain/2 yard loss’ quite a bit from commentators, but I would not have thought that this term was elevated to the name of a statistic.
