For the last time, what the hell is Spandau talking about in True?

Mr. Ballet makes no sense. This has come up again because of the Black Eyed Peas remake. See, BEPs version of this song makes perfect sense mostly because they’ve replaced the nonsense verses with rap that I can understand.

I started a thread about this before but that was before I was clear on the lyrics rule. So, instead of trying to interpret the song verse by verse here’s a page with the words.

These words make sense seperately and even in groups of three or four, but strung together. . . I bought a ticket to the world but now I’ve come back again. . . Huh? Take your seaside arms and write the next line. . . Wha?

Can someone 'splain?

Have you seen this site? There is a pretty good interpretation of that song there on this page.

It makes sense to me, anyway.

Here is a better version of the same site.

Well this part:

seems to speak of staying up all night listening to Marvin Gaye if I’m not mistaken.

Maybe the writer was referring to joyous or romantic feelings when he spoke of “seaside arms”, though it could be peaceful too. So he’s saying “feel the way you do when you’re by the ocean, and write the next part of the song”. Maybe the point of the song is, he thought going out and adventuring around the world was what he wanted out of life, but it didn’t bring him happiness, and now he’s back looking for the happiness he left behind? I know the group says it’s not a love song at all, though it was played at a lot of weddings. (Still is, isn’t it?)
