Twas the night before school started
When all through the town
The parents were cheering
It was a riotous sound.
By eight the kids were washed
And tucked into bed...
When memories of homework
Filled them with dread.
New pencils, new folders,
New notebooks, too...
New teachers, new friends...
Their anxiety grew.
The parents just giggled
When they learned of this fright
And shouted upstairs...
"Go to bed! It's a school night!"
Let’s see, there was over $150 worth of school clothes, another 30 on other assorted supplies, there's the 10 fee for the physical so he can play soccer, then the $60 + for the soccer gear (haven’t bought the shorts yet), then there’s the $35 fee for the marching band uniform, and he just casually mentioned that he’s going to “learn the trumpet”, too, which will mean an additional amount for a mouthpiece for same, oops, can’t forget the $5 for the gloves for the marching band, sure hope his shoes for same still fit…
boy oh boy, sure glad his dad pays me $50 whole dollars in child support.
You know when I was a little kid there was something I never got. My parents would always bitch about the high cost of school clothes, not to mention the hastle of going to shop for them. But when I offered to not get new clothes, and were the same comfortable T-shirts and shorts I had worn all summer, I got yelled at and sent to my room. I hope all y’all parents are a little more reasonable about such things.
A few years ago I think it was OfficeMax who ran a back to school commercial I truly loved. A couple of parents gleefully buying school supplies to the tune of “Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”. My sentiments exactly.
wring - that really sucks gal. FTR, my ex is just as bad.
{{{wring}}} - dont worry,this ones on the house .
when my son went through the stage that he would only wear black t-shirts with band parephenelia on them, along with the same button down shirt with the ripped off sleeves every day, I said not a word.
Now, of course, he’s the fashion police and has probably 30 pair of pants, 40 t-shirts, 45 button down shirts, won’t wear anything if it looks worn. (fortunately, he buys alot of his own clothes currently, tho the totals I gave above are in fact what I spent)…
so, yea, reasonable… My only hope is that I live long enough to see ** him ** try and raise a teen…
Well, there is that of course. I remember the costs well! Thankfully son graduated this year so all that is behind me, unless he decides to go on to college.
I don’t know how to act w/o having to buy clothes, supplys ect… and pay for Band shoes, trips and all that this year !
I almost miss it. ** ALMOST ** .
LIONESS!!! Hey you! How are ya? Good to see you back girl!
Anyway, I’m just happy to see that these kids are actually going to see the sun again. I swear to god they spent four months sitting in front of the tv playing video games!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
School starts in just a few days.
My youngest will go full time now.
I’m a free woman.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW !!!
oops… I meant sniff sniff
I am going to be sooo lonely.
No fighting to listen to.
It’s going to be soooo quiet here.
I’m going to miss them.
I love the OfficeMax (or is it Staples? I can’t remember) “MWT” commercial! The first time I saw that, I laughed my butt off, and my daughter was only an infant!
My daughter has started pre-school now. She loves it. She made a maraca (sp?) the other day, out of two plastic bowls and some dried beans. It’s her first school project, so of course, we have to keep it forever.
Poor Mom, she’s spent like at least $500 for school clothes for me this year…and I’m a senior.
I feel terrible for spending that much of Mom’s money, but as a woman I feel that I can never have enough clothes. And clothes are so expensive these days! I suggested going to Salvation Army for school clothes and Mom said, “NOW you tell me!” (after spending like $180 on me at Value City)
