Yeah, since Spotify has now completely abandoned its podcasts-exclusive-to-Spotify business plan, it’s likely they were still losing money on Rogan no matter how much he was moving the subscriber/revenue needle. I mean, that about-face by Spotify is the whole reason why Young has given up and returned to them — after Rogan’s new, non-exclusive deal with Spotify, he is now back to spread his poison on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, etc so it’s pointless for Young to keep up the boycott.
It might not have been personal, but exclusivity deals were apparently bad business. We’ll see if they can make more selling ads on a wider distribution.
And…he’s back.
For the most part. There are a few glaring omissions. Hopefully they will appear soon.
