Forget 999 channel - what about on demand everything (TV)

We are fastly approaching the time when TV programs and channels may very well be obsolete. You want to watch Sienfield, you enter that, select your episode and watch, perhaps you can pay a bit for a commercial free version. You want to watch Monster Garage, you just enter that and select the Ambulance of Death episode. You start and stop and any time.

Would this be a better or worse TV experience for you?

My personal TV viewing habbits are very rarely, my TV was not turned on in about 2 weeks, mainly because I am not at all interested in it. So it won’t effect me much at all. Add your TV viewing habbits too if you don’t mind.

I personally find that the move to more channels sorts of detracts from the 'TV experience, my expectations are higher (w/ so many channels I should be able to find something good), and I get frustrated more often, generally ending up flipping through 100 or so channels looking for something good. When I had fewer I was more likely to settle.

With everything on demand, I would expect it to be OK at 1st but tire quickly. I would also be less likely to stumble onto something that I may like - further detracting from the TV experence. Perhaps you will be able to select new releases of shows you like, but I really don’t see how that is much different then today’s TiVO tech.
