Forget "Insane Mode". No there's "Ludicrous Mode".

In January, Tesla announced Insane Mode for the Model S, which takes the car from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds. Tesla just announced Ludicrous Mode, which takes the car from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds. Tesla is also bringing back their first production car, The Roadster, in 2017-2019 (reports vary regarding the year).

Zoom Zoom.

Anyone out there experience “Insane Mode” first hand?

Sounds dangerous. They should put a passcode on it so that only the owner can activate it. If I get one I will use the same code I have on my luggage - 1234.

How fast does it go to plaid, though?

Dammit! I wanted to make the joke!

You should have jammed his transmission.

:confused:Please to explain “plaid”

Go to plaid? No need, these new Teslas will follow Henry Ford’s model: any color you want, as long as it’s plaid.

Spaceball One.

Tesla themselves went straight for the “plaid” reference (which comes from the movie Spaceballs):

Not surprising, since Musk’s other company names their landing barges after gigantic, super-intelligent spaceships.

After “maximum plaid” mode, no doubt there will be “maximum squish” mode.

2.8 seconds? What else, besides maybe a drag racer, accelerates that fast?

Motorcycles.
How about 2.35 while not flipping over backwards?

It’s currently a short list of cars, but the 918 Spyder does it in 2.2 seconds.

As we see more electric/hybrid performance oriented cars come out, the list will definitely grow.

The way Tesla typically operates, it’ll probably appear around 2020-2021.

Seriously, “Ludicrous Mode” sounds like an accident waiting to happen. The only question being, will the accident involve a tree, a school bus, or a bridge abutment?
