I have an old Blackberry (Bold) that I haven’t used in 7 months, and my wife has an even older Blackberry that is sort of falling apart, so she’d like to switch to my old one. Problem is that I’ve forgotten the password. I used up 6 of the 10 chances already.
From looking around a bit, the impression I get is that if I guess another 4 times what happens is that the phone gets wiped clean, i.e. that I lose all stored data. If that’s the case, then I’m OK, because I don’t need anything that’s stored on that phone anyway.
But I want to be sure this is correct before I do it rather than risk being locked out of it forever.
[In case this makes any difference, the phone was originally provided by my employer and when I was eligible for an upgrade they just gave me a new phone and didn’t need the old one back. But my account is still active, just with a different phone.]
The first link is about unlocking the phone for use on a different carrier, and the second, whilst very helpful, requires the PIN for prior registration, which might not be available without the password first ( at a guess ).
This Blackberry page details getting one’s password reset by sending one’s Blackberry email address, and having the new password sent to a different computer with instructions. Reset Page.
