Here’s a hint. Omit the rolleyes smiley. It’ll work wonders.
Nope, none there either …
So, are there any chances at all that any of you are every going to focus your attentions on beating McCain? Since Hillary’s been “finally forked” for months now, that is, as you are so certain.
I know all this gleeful RO is just so much fun for some of you that you can hardly stand it, but some of us do think preventing a continuation of Bush’s policies is just a little more significant a problem for the nation and the world. Perhaps some day you’ll come to think so too. But it looks pretty damn doubtful at this point.
If that’s the case, why is it more important to tip the board and go into a sulk instead of conceding the game to Obama and moving forward?
Translation, for those who don’t speak Clintonese:
“Why aren’t you Obama folks concentrating on McCain, even though my candidate is standing square in middle of the road marked “General Election” behind a barricade of sandbags and an army of brainwashed volunteers?!”
Tell your girl to get out of the way and we’ll proceed to immediately ignore her. Oh, wait…that’s why she’s NOT getting out of the way…to ignore a Clinton is to destroy a Clinton.
It is astounding how rude, barbaric, and obnoxious Hillary’s flying monkeys were. They would not stop their heckling and booing even when the grandson of Franklin Fucking Roosevelt told them that they were reflecting poorly on her. And Harold Ickes? He should be excommunicated from the party. His take-your-unity-and-shove-it-up-your-ass speech betrays the fact that he and his candidate have no interest in the party’s welfare, or in the welfare of the nation for that matter. All that matters to them is their own petty pursuits. Are there any more bridges these people can burn?
… You’re blaming Obama supporters for dragging this process out?
Nice.
I never think you’ll be able to top your previous antics but you manage.
You mean Merk, right?
Is it “moving forward” for you to *still * continue the endless, gleeful RO of Clinton-bashing, while McCain and his team are working toward winning in the Electoral College? How does that work? :dubious:
jayjay and SB, is it over yet or isn’t it? Are you actually agreeing with her position that it isn’t? If it is, why do you care what she says?
Elvis, turn on a television set and watch a little CNN so you know what we’re talking about and why we’re talking about it today.
It is over. It has been over for weeks. She will. not. be. the. candidate. Period. That doesn’t mean she can’t destroy the party’s chances by being recalcitrant, delusional, disingenuous and vengeful. All the determination on our part to ignore her failed candidacy will be for nothing if she insists on making the rest of the summer about her, because we do not control the media. And the media love a horserace.
She needs to watch herself, though. She can be vengeful and so can we. If she takes this to the convention, she will find herself out in the cold in 2012. She will be primaried, she will be outvoted, and she will be gone. Her future as any sort of force in politics is hanging in the balance right now. If her attempts to claw her way to the nomination destroy our best chance to get the presidency since 1996, with the best nominee we’ve had since 1996, she will pay politically.
Demconwatch has been updated, and Obama needs only 64 to win. After the gutter-snipe antics of Hillary’s supporters today, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see the superdelegate floodgates open as soon as the polls close in Montana and South Dakota. Maybe they’re even so disgusted as to just go ahead and declare.
It’s not over until Barack Obama is the nominee of the democratic party. Until then, he has to fight that fight.
It’s clear that Hillary can’t win and has been for a while - so long as Obama keeps up what he’s done and keeps fighting. Just because Obama didn’t stop campaigning months ago doesn’t mean that the fight practically wasn’t over.
Really, you should just accept it and stop with this ridiculous stuff. I thought that’s what you’d done, given your absense from it. People like you and DrDeth have only hurt Clinton with your support.
Officials say Fla., Mich. delegates will get half-votes
So Clinton +87, Obama +63
Obama’s total increased to 2,052, and Clinton had 1,877.5.
There are about 291 delegates left.
2,118 are needed for the nomination.
If Clinton can score 82.6% of the remaining delegates, the nomination is hers.
Which one is it?
Is it ridiculous to want *you * to *stop * working against the cause of uniting the party and nation behind getting a progressive agenda enacted, instead of engaging in the never-ending gleeful forkfest that has dominated this board for so long?
It’s called a “job”. You might have heard of the concept.
Once again, if she “can’t win”, as you say, why does that matter?
Under the Constitution, slaves were worth 3/5. MI and FL voters, not quite that much.
Will this mollify the voters there, or will they feel themselves condescended to instead? I have a strong suspicion, and I think most of you do too.
jayjay, all right then, what is *your * strategy for attempting to win the support of mistrustful Clinton supporters to the Obama cause? You’ve had plenty of time to think about it, obviously. So what do you plan to do now?
Who’s doing the fucking WHAT now?! You misspelled “dividing the party” and “a corporatist agenda”.
I see…you’re one of those hard-working white people who actually need a president.
We aren’t trying to keep her from winning. We’re trying to keep her from attempting to delegitimize the Democratic nominee’s nomination and thereby helping to elect the Republican. I’m not sure at this point that Clinton actually thinks she can win herself at this point. I’m starting to think she’s trying to set the stage for 2012.
Funny how she DIDN’T CARE about the poor, disenfranchised voters of Florida and Michigan until she felt like she NEEDED them to win the nomination, isn’t it?
Outside of Clinton’s immediate cult of personality, I don’t think there are that many Floridians or Michiganders who actually care, or most of them at least understand why they were sanctioned in the first place and realize that it was a fair sanction.
Frankly, you folks have some people so scary over there that I don’t know if I want them anywhere near Obama or the convention or the party, for that matter. Can’t you all just kind of join the Hail Clinton Party?
Both. Analogy:
I have a well trained, well supplied military force of 10,000 men surrounding your beaten up force of 1,000 men. You can’t win. Yet I still have to fight - if I simply stop fighting, then you can win. I have to take care of you before I go off to fight the other army across the river. But that doesn’t mean you can win under any normal or reasonable circumstance.
Have you not been reading this thread? Or even the title? Or its predecessors?
When do you stop insinuating racism? Or do you think you have a basis for it? If so, what is it? If not, don’t you think that crap you’re engaging in badly damages the cause?
And you’re doing that with endless, childish bashing? The level of shit you’ve been engaging in, for months now, itself tends to delegitimize the campaign of the candidate you support - and that isn’t anybody else’s fault. 'Tis a pity you can’t see past your own hatred and recognize that.
“And you’re doing that with endless, childish bashing?”
See, this is why you need to turn on a television and catch up on current events. You seem to have no idea what’s going on right now or what the basis for criticism of Hillary is.
