Now be fair, he’s only talking about being ‘shrill and annoying’, and not necessarily going any deeper than that. I’d call it enthusiasm, myself; certainly Obama’s supporters are vastly more enthusiastic about him than Clinton’s are about her. But to each their own.
That’s how I took it and I totally agree. I voted for Barack in the primary and I will vote for him again but there’s a segment of Obama supporters that annoy the ever loving shit out of me far and away more than any other candidate’s I have ever experienced.
Since this is the fork Hillary thread…well, it looks like maybe she is done after tonight. I’m watching the news and she lost by double digits in NC and barely (maybe) squeaked by in IN. I think her goose is cooked at this point.
Depending on how the delegates fall out I’d say that there is no point in going to the convention after tonight…agreed? Hillary supporters, do you think she still has a viable chance after tonight??

On topic: Tonight’s results were about the worst that HRC could expect. It’s finally really over now.
I think her goose is cooked…and I think I’ll have to eat crow about my comment that this thing will go to the convention. I can’t see how she could stay in at this point…not after tonight.

For what? That the nomination process is decided by delegates, not popular vote directly?
Wow, what happened in Indianna?
When I checked just about the time of the polls closing CNN had Hilary up in Indianna 64/34. When I went to bed the gap had narrowed to something like 54/46.
Now it is a squeaker.
She’s done. I just watched the glorified Clinton News Network otherwise known as Good Morning America and George Stephanopolos said: “She’s done”. For that Clinton gushing network to say that on national television…come on Hill, giver it up.
The honorable thing to do would be to step up and back Barack Obama. She could gain some composure back by doing that. Staying in the back rooms until August would be cheeky at best, if she stands up and unites behind Obama this democratic party could really strengthen against the republican smear machine now sharpening it’s sabers for Obama.
I didn’t know when I posted earlier - there is a *new *fork thread.
Right but it went to IMHO.
The Obama districts were the last to post. That’s why they withheld the call for so long.
I have friends on Manteo Island, North Carolina and they were saying the entire island was abuzz with Obama signs and posters - and the place where they watched the results was booming over Obama.
Now that Obama has won convincingly throughout the South — with substantial help from white males — can we please put to rest the myths about how racism looms large over the South while the north is a bastion of squeaky clean racial harmony?
Sorry, I thought it related to what you were saying earlier in the posts about your assessment that the Obama camp is against supers, then for supers, etc.
Depends on your definition of “shrill and annoying”, I guess. They’re enthusiastic but for the most part very honest. I vastly prefer it to the flat out lying, hypocrisy, and manipulation - in fact, as a non-democrat, it’s a big part of what has me interested in Obama (and disliking Hillary).
Not to mention the myth about how any poster is making that claim.
It’ll also be interesting to see how the South goes in the general election. I doubt Obama will have enormous success there in November.
Ya know Lib I really hope we can begin to mend fences and lay to rest myths of racism. Obama looks like he’s got the nomination pretty well sewn up - if the dems can unite and really win it all in November it will truly be a key turning point in this nations history.
We are in a history making season as it is right now, my kids will be reading about this in their text books. America’s first young black president had interesting ideas and a charismatic way about him - he sussessfully changed the face of American Politics in that autumn of 2008. I for one can’t wait to hear his inaugural.
The joke will be on you when he comes out in a turban and says “HAHA! I was a secret Muslim! Now you’re stuck with me!”
LOL!
I always thought a grand entrance like Black-Belt Jones with a Karate Chop would be cool.
Either way, turban or not, I want to hear his inaugural - and further his state of the union address. It will be like music to my ears to listen to him and not W.
I too am looking forward to seeing him as President. I look forward to regaining the feeling that we as a country aren’t viewed with such negativity by the rest of the world. I feel sure I won’t be disapointed.
I don’t like to allow myself to venture too far into fantasy, I don’t like getting my hopes crushed. But the people supporting Obama have shown me that I can venture into that realm…even if it is just a little…and if Obama does truly end up in the white house, all those thoughts and prayers for a different America will be answered.
I don’t expect Obama to walk on water, but just his presence will change the face of American politics, and will show some people in the world America can change with the times and dare I say - can evolve.
