Fork Hillary 3: The Final Forking

I’ll be happy if he replaces “Hail to the Chief” with James Brown’s “Payback.”

Personally, I’m leaning towards P-Funk’s “Chocolate City” (“They call it the White House, but that’s a temporary condition”)

Breaking News from MSNBC:

George McGovern, former Democratic representative and senator from South Dakota, and former Clinton supporter, has publicly called on her to drop out of the race. He has announced he will vote as a delegate for Obama.

McGovern Switches to Obama, Urges Clinton to Quit

It’s SO over.

Can we fill our virtual toasting glasses yet?

Will she do it?

On another board, a poster mentioned that Clinton’s leads in WV and KY are so unassailable that she’ll win those, even if she drops out. And she’d be doing Obama a favor by staying in and giving an explanation for why he lost.

Any thoughts?

Huh?

The MSNBC folk were saying the same last night. KY & WV would vote for Clinton over Obama whether she’s in the race or not so staying in spares him the embarassment of losing to someone who’s already quit. She can win a couple more states and bow out on a high note.

OK, given the results last night and the news that HIllary loaned her campaign another $6.4 million on top of the $5 million she earlier loaned the campaign and tell me what Bill is thinking?

To me, he has that look on his face of a husband who’s wife won’t stop spending on personal indulgences and is draininng the bank account.

I have no doubt that if she dropped out today that she’d still win WV, KY and probably PR, too. Those constituencies favor her heavily. But they aren’t enough to tip the scales to her in any meaningful way. Especially with Oregon, South Dakota and Montana so heavily favoring Obama. At this point they could both stay home the rest of the month and still split the final 6 contests 50/50, the only question would be by how much he might be able to close the gap of her wins with the extra time to campaign in those states, much like he did in Pennsylvania.

I don’t think she’d be doing him any favors by staying in the race at all. But she’s certainly entitled to. And given that it’s only just over 3 weeks more, let her blow all her money if she wants. <shrug>

I concur. It’s past time to put that erroneous meme to sleep.

Why are KY and WV so heavily against Obama? Are they really just that hillbilly?

I’ve never had any thoughts that Clinton would drop before June 4th. Quite honestly, even if she wins in WV or KY who cares? Shes not going to be the next President of the United States - that’s becoming more and more clear every day.

You know what is funny is that you know there are people out there who think both that he is a secret Muslim and also are conceerned about his 20 year association with pastor.

That look is priceless!

There are people out there who think he’s a muslim AND think that if the president is a muslim, they have to be muslim, too.

To be honest, Liberal about the racism thing,

I’ve come to realize that the main problem area in the country in general is Appalachia. That’s the kind of place where you’re seeing 90 percent of the white vote go for Hillary. This is obviously different from blacks voting for Obama, because it’s expected that you vote for your own group.

I’m originally from the South, and the answer may be that it is so taboo these days by most people that we dare not mention it. Even then, that’s better than the open racism that I’ve seen in the rust-belt areas, and also in Appalachia.

Apparently the least racist areas to be in are the Mountain West states where Obama cleaned up so heavily.

Doomed, I tells ya. Doooooooooomed.

Nah. One of her advisers says she’s loaned herself one year’s income. If they’ve really made more than $100 million since he left office, it’s no problem - not to mention that while he’s the main breadwinner, she’s made plenty of money on her own. If she loses, they’ll make that money back fairly quickly the same way they made it, from book sales and his speaking engagements.

Interesting article here from the New Yorker:

I guess it is pure racism. They don’t even deny it. The sad thing is that the media will avoid calling attention to and will talk instead about Obama’s “inability to connect with whit working class voters.” I’m getting kind of tired of how they’re all too chickenshit to admit that these pockets of racism still exist. They always spin it like there must be something wrong with the candidate, not the voters.
