I believe it would be illegal for Penn to simply clear her debt as it would run afoul of campaign contribution limits.
How about extending her time limit for payment indefinitely? Or even for some finite but relatively extended time?
Since it’s obvious now that Clinton has no chance, do you think perhaps she’s trying to sink Obama so that at least one of Burson-Marsteller’s clients will go on to the White House? Is that perhaps Mark Penn’s price for clearing her debt?
Come on. The Clintons’ net worth is in the tens of millions and they’re both set for life. How would Penn be in a position to blackmail her?
The same people who would vote for Hillary over Obama because she’s white are the same people who would vote for McCain over Hillary because he’s a man.

Is she allowed to pay campaign debts with her own income? Or do they have to come out of campaign funds?
Exactly. If somehow Hillary gets the nomination through some tumultuous bit of happenstance, I expect black voter turnout to be at lows not seen since the days of Jim Crow. Hillary will lose in that environment. There’s no way she’d be able to overcome that hurdle, particular in swing states with large black populations.
Because Hillary is still making noise, I can’t quite allow myself to get jubilant about Obama’s blowout in NC. As long as she doesn’t quit, her barbs and quips and attacks only serve McCain’s interests. She’s sabotaging the party.
While I’m sure this flap will cost her, I think she just slipped and said “hard working” instead of “working class”. She was quoting the AP poll, which probably had it broken down by race and class. Working class whites have been more in the Hillary column of late than in Barack’s.

Let’s see the press ride her on this one the way that they rode Obama on the bitter comment. She may have meant no more offense than Obama did or Kerry did with his “stuck in Iraq” joke, but that didn’t stop her from piling on them to score political points. Her fifteen minutes are long over, time to get off the stage.
Add me to the list of people who responded to the horror of Clinton’s race-baiting argument by sending some cash Obama’s direction.
Me too. I’ve been sending it lately to the individual Obama field offices in the states he has primaries coming up in…Shows staffers a lot of Americans are happy for what they are doing and we all want the same thing.
If you look back at that era with glasses of non-rosecolored lens, you can see that the Democratic party had incredible losses and general party malaise in the Clinton era. The Clintons did nothing to build the party. They did nothing to retain party numbers in Congress. They did nothing that helped the general party in any way.

Yeah, I noticed all that at the time. But the attacks against him were not about that; they were about blowjobs and ginned-up stuff like Travelgate and Vince Foster.
We were right to defend him back then, even if he didn’t deserve it, and even though Hillary has lately attacked the grass-roots organization (MoveOn, originally “Censure and Move On”) that came into being for the express purpose of defending Bill against that wingnut shit.
IMHO, we should always defend our own against attacks from outside that are baseless or ginned up out of nothing or over trivial shit. Then we can criticize our own over the stuff that actually matters.
I am continually startled at how increasingly divisive Hillary’s language is. It’s really appalling, and one of the big reasons I started supporting Obama.
Does one of the indefatigable Hillary-supporters care to come in here and defend the recent comments? How is her behavior good for the goal of electing a democrat to the White House, exactly?
Any Clinton supporters who’ve previously accused Obama of stalling the seating of the FL and MI delegates want to comment on this one? 9th Floor? DrDeth? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Anyone seen the finalists for the Obama in 30 Seconds ads? - they’re pretty cool.

Oh, come on. The one with the laughing kid and his brother at the breakfast table was way better than some of these.
I’m gonna guess that she wants the whole sum of votes added to her popular vote tally, so she can then claim to have more popular votes, which proves that Obama is unelectable. No, that doesn’t make sense. But then whatever does?
