Fork Hillary 3: The Final Forking

I don’t think saying white people and hard working people don’t like Obama will help Hill with that.

Not a surprise coming from Clinton that it first off isn’t true. the demographics go the other way. Her White support eroded in Indiana compared to PA.

Secondly, is the fact that that particular demographic has generally gone Republican for a long time now.

Third of all, Gawd what a stupid thing to say! “Well I may lose smart people and the middle class and above and voters over thirty and Blacks of all economic groups and ages, but Dayumn! I got the ignorant poor White folk voting for me!” Now that’s a coalition to build on.

I can see giving her a chance to leave gracefully. But she don’t seem to know what “grace” means …

I just happened upon that piece and came here to make sure it got posted. I’m stunned and even shaking a little. The supers need to end it TODAY.

Hillary has lost her mind.

Quite. The sort of people who won’t vote for a black man are not much more likely to vote for a white woman. Obviously there’s not a 100% overlap, but it ain’t nothin’ neither.

"Clinton cited an Associated Press poll "that found how Senator Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.

“I’ve got the support of everyone who isn’t an Overeducated Elite or a Lazy Negro! Vote for me!!!”

There are two possibilities here. Either she’s becoming increasingly unbalanced, or she’s intent on leaving nothing but scorched earth for the Democratic Party by the time the nomination’s decided for Obama, guaranteeing her another shot in '12.

In her arrogance and anger she’s starting to resemble Richard Nixon in 1962, only with less grace. Wonder what kind of Enemies List she’ll have if she ever gets the chance to emulate Tricky Dick in high office.

Unbelieveable. For gaffes, this trumps the “bitter” comment by a country mile.

Feeling helpless in the face of this, I went and donated another hundred–even after yesterday’s.

My thoughts since Tuesday were that Obama and supporters should be magnanimous and let her unwind her campaign in an orderly way.

That’s out the door. It was no gaffe. It was…I don’t even have a good word for it that isn’t a stream of cursing.

It won’t be an issue, any more than Hagee is an issue. It may garner a few passing comments in the media and that’ll be it. I wonder why?

Because she’s saying what a lot of Americans believe and are, unfortunately, comfortable with.

Yeah, that was sort of a rhetorical question :).

No. It is not a simple statement of the demographic facts on the ground. (That’s for the slicers and dicers of the commentariat who have been making this race all about identity politics. It may be true, but it is not the truth of this contest.)

Rather, it is a statement from her to the supers that she is betting that a black guy can’t win, even in this most winnable of demo elections AFTER she seemed to strike a conciliatory tone. Worse, it is a call to all whites who will not vote for a black person to say “I"m your alternative.” It is the absolute worst thing a person in her position could do for the party and the country.

ETA sorry if I’m being non-responsive. I’m just furious.

I did too. I actually felt sorry for Clinton, but the feeling passed quickly. I am convinced she has absolutely no principles or moral compass. She is out to destroy Obama and the Democrats chances of winning in the fall. This is turning into a nightmare.

Isn’t it funny? The minute you start to feel sorry for her, she makes you pay for it. Give her an inch and she’ll take a mile.

Wake me when Obama’s President.

And here’s a little youtubery to further whet your indignation. So hard-working Americans = White Americans. Hmm. Yep, she’s officially crossed the line.

To counter her remark, I’d say what about all the people who wouldn’t vote for HER, not because she’s a woman, but because she’s seen as dishonest and therefore not a good president? There are people who would not vote AT ALL in the general election if she’s the nominee.

Well, they’re all lazy, privileged elitists, or Black, didn’t you know that?

You know, this is edging into tin-foil chapeau territory, but there’s something else to think about here. She owes her former chief advisor (and current chief-advisor-in-hiding) Mark Penn probably millions of dollars for his services in this campaign. And we know she has very little actual funds on hand for the campaign itself.

Mark Penn’s (former-but-not-permanently) business partner, Charlie Black, is McCain’s chief advisor (notwithstanding the ethical pitfalls of one publicist firm advising two competing campaigns for the moment). Since it’s obvious now that Clinton has no chance, do you think perhaps she’s trying to sink Obama so that at least one of Burson-Marsteller’s clients will go on to the White House? Is that perhaps Mark Penn’s price for clearing her debt?

Like I said, it edges into tin-foil-hattery, but the sheer gall and ethical sidestepping involved in having both a Democratic and a Republican campaign advised by the same firm always keeps coming back and slapping me in the back of the head like an Italian mother who will not be ignored…

If you are on the SDMB talking about this, then rest assured other people in the concrete jungle are too. Clinton is finished making friends.

The Party needs to push her out. This is slash and burn and could cause irreparable damage to the Democratic Party. If she actually cared about the American people and our future, she would be uniting Democrats to defeat McCain instead of dividing Democrats and feeding into rightwing hate mongering by exploiting race. This could have been a great moment for Democrats. I am sick over this.

I believe it would be illegal for Penn to simply clear her debt as it would run afoul of campaign contribution limits.
