An extended exit is good for both parties at this point. If Clinton can make a dent in her campaign debt with the help of her devoted followers, if the voters in the remaining states get to have a fair say and are overruled by the popular opinion, if we can have a few weeks of respectful anti-McCain campaigning full of niceties and unifying feelings, then we are all good.
If the divisive stuff continues, then I think the trickle of supers will become a torrent quickly. Hillary’s smart, she knows this. The only reason they are insisting on the ridiculous seating of MI is because it makes victory a liiiiiiiiiiiiiitle bit plausible, which helps her fundraising efforts.
I think there is a large number of Supers who are waiting because they want to give Hillary a chance to leave on her own instead of it looking like she was forced out. I think they give her until this weekend to do the right thing.
Wow. That’s just… I can’t even fathom who thought this would be a good idea. Regardless of what she meant, the perception will be that she is trying to play on racial issues to earn votes. Just… I thought these were supposed to be politically savvy people?
Yikes. Her rationale (“These are the people you have to win if you’re a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election. Everybody knows that.”) is strikingly similar to something Limbaugh said:
Excellent work, Senator.
ETA: which way does this round of rejections and denunciations go?
And still we have 200 some-odd superdelegates sitting idly by twiddling their thumbs pretending not to notice as she does all she can to destroy the nominee. Nancy Pelosi says the race should go on. Cowards. That’s the only word fitting. Have some balls and make a statement, and let the chips fall where they may.
What would it take? Ever fucking day I’m shocked by Hillary’s latest antics. Surely she can’t go lower, right? I’m always impressed as she finds a way to reach a new low. I’m also surprised how nobody seems to call her on it. It’s like she’s a bully and nobody manages to stand up to her.
Sadly, I’m not convinced that either Clinton has ever actually had any loyalty to the party, or at least to any wing of the party other than the DLC. I’ve come to see in the last six months that I was incredibly blind in the 90s when I defended Bill so vehemently.
If you look back at that era with glasses of non-rosecolored lens, you can see that the Democratic party had incredible losses and general party malaise in the Clinton era. The Clintons did nothing to build the party. They did nothing to retain party numbers in Congress. They did nothing that helped the general party in any way. Since their era, they’ve been busy building the DLC, building up extra-party organizations to champion their Third Way/DLC corporatism, and raking in lots of money from some fairly sleazy sources for the Clinton library (and hopefully the ONLY Clinton library).
It seriously disillusioned me to look at the 90s in that light.
The woman is despicable. She and Geraldine Ferraro deserve each other.
No, not everybody knows that, bitch. Just because you say it, doesn’t make it true. In fact, historically, it’s been the opposite; Democrats needed the black vote in order to win elections.
I really didn’t think I could hate her more than I did, yet she consistently gives me cause to despise her to the core.
