Thanks to all for the condolences. I honestly do miss her, she was a wonderful person.
So far, my plan to just wear the ring on a chain seems to make my BB happy and I did ask a jeweler about resizing the ring and reinforcing it so I don’t flatten it. He looked horrified and then suggested making the ring into a pendant and sketched a few designs.
This will get done later in the year if I survive this year’s allergy season. Due to all that yellow sperm, err pollen all over, the chances of me having to actually do anything with the ring are pretty small. I don’t think I’m going to last for the rest of the month and if I do, my nose will have fallen off and I’ll have other worries than having a pendant made.
I hate Houston in the spring. The only reason I moved here was to get laid on a regular basis and for some reason that doesn’t happen when I’m sneezing and hacking and blowing my nose 24/7.
Yup, I was right. Drop it off for an oil change and I might not get it back until tomorrow morning. Ah well, I anticipated it and the budget can handle it and it might end up a warranty item because the guy said he’s been seeing a lot of this issue lately so I might get my money back later.
I am sorry that you are having this pain/itch but I am glad you posted it. I get this from time to time and I asked my dad and he sad he never had this reaction from the several times he has had shingles. I thought I was a mutant or something.
I have fucking had it with tweets. I should never, ever see a news story involving tweets. The are not the way government is conducted. Reaction tweets from random shitheads should never be a part of the story.

I’m glad you’re glad. It’s good to bring joy into the lives of others. But I am quite disconcerted to think that my nerves might gearing up for Shingles Part Deux. Until now, I was fine for over a year.
I tried my damnedest to get the vaccine before I came down with it. I had Molina Healthcare at the time and they put me through such a maze of instructions and restrictions and endless phone trees and bureaucratic fights with 37 different reps that I finally gave up in disgust. I came down with it within a year. I understand that it only works half the time anyway.
I was surprised at the number of tweets the BBC linked to in their live feed following the terror attack. They didn’t even include a summary to go with each tweet (the tweets themselves didn’t show up for me – likely because Twitter is blocked by my workplace).
Damnit. Last month I got floored for a week by a flu virus: misery, fever, endless rivers of snot.
This Monday I was in Houston for a one-day work trip, and the only thing to come out of the experience was a head cold. Or so I thought. It’s now progressed to the same symptoms as that damn flu. Which means spending the weekend shivering in bed, knowing there’ll be a mess of work to get back to on Monday because of losing two days this week on top of the trip.
I am assuming the ring is gold. If not, disregard! :0)
Depending on how long the ring is going to be on a chain, make sure that the chain is the same “hardness” as the ring, whether the chain is gold or another material. I wore my high school boyfriend’s 14K class ring on a 10K chain, and it sawed a groove in the ring where it naturally settled.
Went to a city government meeting on Wednesday where they were taking testimony on the rollout of a resolution making Portland a “sanctuary city”. City council meetings have been disrupted of late by self-styled anarchists and protesters. Wednesday’s was the worst, with these poseurs shouting insults and not allowing people to testify. The mayor needs to grow a spine and have these people removed when they act up. Free speech has limits, and these are just rude assholes who are looking for notoriety.
This is actually good advice regardless of what the ring is made of. But since gold is a very soft metal, it has a tendency to wear down faster then other metals might.
Yes, it’s the person testifying who has free speech at that moment. When we have Town Hall meetings where everyone who wants a say, gets one, people aren’t allowed to interrupt and get removed by police if they do egregiously. The last one I went to was 3 hours long. I think we’d still be there if the dickheads were interrupting all the time. If the “anarchists and protesters” want a say, all they have to do is fill out a form on the way in. No declaration to testify? Then keep your trap shut or be removed.
After some regular upheavals more than twenty years ago, rules about talking a Council meetings were changed. I’m working from memory, here, and might miss something. Bu it mostly includes: turn in your card with your name and the item you want to speak about on it (“Announcements” is an item), if you want to hand information to the Council have one copy for each of them plus one for the Clerk, and you have three minutes. If you need more than three minutes, bring a friend.
