They call it a ‘crinoid’, but c’mon, just look at it. It’s a freaking H.R. Giger face-hugger.
So, Alien vs. Predator is a documentary? Who knew?
It is extremely Giger-ish in appearance. Creepy.
Documentary? Puh-leeease. AvP was clearly a reconstruction based on real-life prehistorical events. 
"Crinoids can regenerate arms, and the researchers report in Friday’s issue of the journal Science that the amount of arm regeneration more than doubled, from under 5 percent to more than 10 percent, at this time.
At the same time, crinoids and their relatives also began evolving defensive measures, such as thicker shells and spines, in response to the increased attacks."
I’m going to have to read the article because, as they leave it, “at this time” means over a period of 225,000,000 years.
Err… make that 325,000,000.
