Found an Ammonite fossil!

I was at Trent Falls on Vancouver Island and found this super awesome ammonite fossil. The area is known for fossils which was the main reason we were there so I was super happy to have found it.

Found this awesome rock at the same place:

But was it an ammonoid, ceratite or goniatite ammonite? Man, the weird shit I had to memorize for my historical geology class was encyclopedic and it’s really bizarre how much of it is still stuck to the recesses of my brain!

I can’t see any signs of sutures at all in the photo. Maybe the dark patches on the visie side could be aragonite and maybe there is a hint of sooth curves that indicate some kind of nautiloid, but from the one photo I don’t see anything that looks like an ammonite.

I think it’s a piece from a much larger ammonite? Also, if you click on the photo you can see it really zoomed in.

I went to a local rock and gem show yesterday and there was a fossil expert there. He said it was inoceramus vancouverensis.

Col! I always wanted to find a fossil like that. But I only found bryozoans, pelecypods, and maybe some crinoid remains near my house.

Vancouver seems like an unexpected place to find Ammonite fossils. I’d have expected to find them in the Mid-East, particularly around the Jordan River.

Interesting, thank you!

Here on Vancouver Island we have Ammonite Falls:

In China they have octopus rain.

I thought the Ammonites entered a long decline after they were attacked by David.

It’s the Second Coming of Cthulhu!

And evolutionists still claim the Bible has no truths to support their beliefs.

A bit to the east, actually, around the city of Amman, Jordan, their former capital (also known as Rabat Amon by the ancient Hebrews).

Found a Mennonite fossil!

Well, not really a ‘fossil’ per se. More like a corpse. Probably shouldn’t mention it, now that I think of it.

I think this thread wins the internet today. Thanks, people!
