Well, I guess the ratings were getting low. I never cared much for watching bored, rich kids-but will anybody miss this? Will there be a reunion?
I’m still disappointed that WB cancelled Grosse Pointe.
Reaction - What’s “The OC”?
Yes, I don’t watch much TV.
Reaction? “THANK HEAVEN”
What a fluffy, brain-softening piece of garbage that show was. I am so glad I don’t have cable of any kind.
My local CTV affiliate had an annoying and seemingly random habit of running The O.C. at 7:00 pm, rolling over the 7:30 timeslot normally reserved for Jeopardy! (I could watch it at 7 on the NBC affiliate, but often switch to the Fox affiliate if their 7 p.m. Simpsons episode looks interesting, forgetting to check CTV’s schedule).
I won’t miss it.
The OC? an entire series about Pepper Spray? no wonder it died…
never watched it, won’t miss it…
I thought there was some good obscure geek culture references in the show.
And I like Taylor. “Even if I was that limber, do you really think I would do that on the chunnel train?”
Brian
My wife will be disappointed, I will be relieved. Couldn’t stand it for all the same reasons I didn’t like it when it was Beverly Hills 90210, plus it had an annoying, whiny theme song.
Maybe now everybody will stop calling it that, thinking they are cool.
Um… the OC was/is on Fox, which is a terrestrial channel.
I’m a native Southern Californian, and until this show (which I’ve never watched) I’ve never heard anyone refer to Orange County as ‘The OC’. We would say ‘OC’, as in ‘My friend is living in OC’, but never ‘The OC’. Usually we called it ‘Behind The Orange Curtain’.
If the only TV shows you get are the ones that come through the bunny-ears, you might not get Fox unless you have a local affiliate. I get some shows from Fox through my antenna through local affiliates, but there’s a lot of Fox programming I don’t think I get. (Not that I lament the loss.)
It had a good run, which is no doubt partly due to the fact that it didn’t get Fox’s patented “never promote it, then move it around the scheduled at least three times before dumping it, unannounced, into a death slot” treatment.
I watch it, but I think they probably ought to have cancelled it after last season which was rather lackluster. I’ll finish watching the season, but I’m not going to miss it much. I did have one wish come true, though, they killed off Marrisa
I think it’s supposed to be an in show thing. The characters also call Las Vegas “The Vegas”. It’s sort of like McDreamy and McSteamy on Grey’s Anatomy.
Anyway, I thought killing off Marissa was dumb (not that I’m sad she left the show - her character was on her way to leaving anyway when she was killed). But otherwise have enjoyed the show. And with the exception of this year’s Chrismukkah episode it’s been a pretty strong season. I would have liked it to finish out the year at least, but according to sources, the creators had enough time to plan a good ending so things should be ok I think.
I heard the Traffic Girl on KROQ say ‘The OC’ this morning.
Wow, the theme song was the best part of this awful show.
I loves me some Phantom Planet.
