Is Fox News the most watched cable news station in the world?
I don’t know, but I like to refer to it as the Faux News Network.
No, it is not; of American cable news networks, CNN is, according to an article in today’s Variety (www.variety.com, subscription necessary). While Faux News currently leads in primetime numbers thanks to its domestic war coverage, CNN is cited as having a larger overall audience.
Bill Oreilly just made this claim, and I guess this claim inspired the post.
No, but it is the most watched propaganda station in the world.
Does Fox even have a worldwide news network? Fox Japan mostly shows Buffy and X-files reruns, and hasn’t shown any war coverage so far. CNN has international and regional (i.e. Asian) news all the time, with dubbed or real-time Japanese translation.
Fox Japan is probably not a news station… much like FOX8 in Australia.
But we have Fox News also.
Great channel!
Why do so many people bad mouth it?
'Cause democrats need something to be angry about.
Fox News is like an Ann Coulter diatribe: Provocative and entertaining, but not a great source for information, and you gradually notice the pointed, mutated ears.
According to War coverage falters amid harsh realities
Guys. Cool the politics.
Hey, we’re saying “in the world” here, not “in the US”. Can’t find any figures on Google, but I’d imagine that whichever cable news station has the China/East Asia footprint automatically wins that one.
Fox isn’t worldwide in the same way as CNN is. For example, in the UK the equivalent Murdoch-owned channel is Sky News.
But Fox News is also available as a stand alone channel on the Sky Digital satellite network in the UK. Not my favourite of channels by any means
It is not objective in its reporting. Some of the reporters do not follow the ethics of journalism. Maybe there is a bias in most other newscasts, but it is not as obvious as it is on Fox. I think of it as the tabloid of television news.
Really? I only have Telewest; I didn’t realise Sky are effectively showing two competing channels from the same parent!
To be fair, if your going to bash Fox for it`s political leanings then you should also discuss the anti-American in Jennings and the liberal in Rather. That way you wont seem so shallow.
I used to gravitate to Fox News because I enjoyed Brit Hume and a few others. I’ve always thought that Bill O’Reilley (sp?) was a silly populist mouthpiece.
But lately, I can’t stand Fox. Why? Mostly it’s because of Sheperd Smith. His “I’m hip and hangin’” style irritates me. He acts like a smirking fratboy who’s just waiting to say something funny or cool. Couple this with the fact that our guys (and hell, the Iraqis too) are dying over there, and I just can’t stomach it. He’s way too much “Entertainment Tonite” and not enough serious newsperson.
I don’t even know if this is relevant to the OP.
I didn’t even know Fox News was a separate news-only channel. :smack: How old are they, and do they still show news on the regular Fox channel? And are Fox News broadcasts in other countries (UK and Australia have been mentioned so far) localized for each region or just the same US-centric news? BBC and CNN both have worldwide coverage with regional content. (Though my cable company doesn’t carry BBC anymore…)
What exactly do you mean by that? I’m not trying to fight here, I just honestly want to know. Are there specific examples of reporters acting unethically? What did they do?
