Fragments from second plane impact?

In several videos that show the second airplane impact-and-fireball, there appear to be two … somethings… that are ejected out the opposite side as the fireball erupts. Whatever they are, they leave two trails of black smoke, and appear as though they landed ten or fifteen blocks away.

Does anyone have any idea what they are or where they came down? I was discussing this with a friend and we kind of think they’re either the engines or just the rotor “core” from each engine.

Has anyone said anything about them?

Possibly, or they could be one of any number of debris items from within the building (like a sofa or a photocopier).
I’m pretty sure some of those smaller objects that were ejected in a shower, trailing white smoke from the fireball, would have been people, a terrible and sobering thought.

I read one article by a reporter who lived close and walked through the area prior to the collapses. He wrote that he saw a huge chunk of jet engine in the street. I heard another report just now that part of the landing gear was found 4 blocks from the towers.

There were also other debris including bodies according to some survivors.

I saw a fireman interviewed who said they’d found an engine to one of the aircraft some distance away. If it were two objects you saw, and they were moving a considerable speed, I’d suspect they were engines.

The jet engine found in NY

Thanks, Squeej. I bet that’s what I saw leaving the smoke trails… any idea where that engine was found, in relation to the streets?

Here’s a map showing the location of Murray Street, assuming the street sign on the ground was knocked down by that engine as it landed. Appears to be a couple blocks north (and some degree east-west, it didn’t grab the cross street sign too ;))

Apparently there were also people parts scattered from the airliner impacts, not just jet engines.cite.

I read an account just today by someone who was getting out of the area at the time the second plane hit. He was about half a dozen blocks away and reported that as he was running away from the impact, a ‘garbage truck’ sized chunk of debris landed on the street in front him. Unfortunately he didn’t specify whether it was a piece of the plane or a piece the building, though I imagine it may have been a bit difficult to tell the difference.
